Hi Isa-

Maybe you could help me or head me in the right direction. I'm trying to contact Mr. Edward Van Orden, PCGS Variety Expert. He creates and moderates PCGS variety videos. Is he here on the PCGS board or would you have contact information for him?

Thank you!

  • Have you tried messaging him on LinkedIn? He has posted there in the past month.

Does the material give rise to the immaterial, or vice versa?

Hi, it's against policy for me to give the contact information of PCGS employees within the grading room -- no matter how public facing they are. Feel free to send me a direct message, leave a comment or create a new thread with open discussion if you're looking for help or want to send us some feedback. Thanks!

    Hi,

Yes, I'm looking for help to contact Mr. Edward Van Orden. Again, Mr. Orden is the PCGS Variety Expert. He creates and moderates PCGS variety videos and media press releases for public consumption. Is he here on the board?.. Or could you please pass him my information and have him contact me? This is about PCGS social media education and communications.

You say I need to create a new thread. How would creating a new thread help me get in touch with Mr. Orden?

Again, I'm hoping you can help me or head me in the right direction.

I would like to send you a direct message but I get this.

    Hi,
I am familiar with who he is, as I work at PCGS and so does he. However, again, as a matter of company policy, I do not share personal contact information for any of our employees, including those in public-facing roles.

If you’d like to provide your email and clarify the purpose of your outreach, I’d be happy to help pass along the message. My page is no longer private.

I said you can post a new thread because you can post about the specific question and feedback you had for Orden and we (the mods who work at PCGS) or the public forum could respond to you and help you out. You are more than welcomed to start a new thread with your questions or feedback. All forum moderators are PCGS employees, and we regularly review discussions here so your comments will be seen and considered.

    Thanks.

If you're looking for Dunning Kruger type expertise, Mr. Orden is your man. Last time I noticed him, he was getting schooled on unpublished die marriage information on the LSCC Facebook forum.

If you're looking for someone who can do technical assessments such as performing a reed count on a seated Liberty half to properly attribute a rare die state, you're better off looking elsewhere.

Here's an 1840-O "WB-11, 146 reeds" (an R6) - attributed as "WB-11" (R2) by PCGS, even though I explicitly described the coin as having 146 reeds and no die breaks, and asked for a reed count in LARGE LETTERS on my submission sheet in several places on the sheet so they could add this to the coin description. I don't pay $20 to attribute an R2 coin. PCGS, please hire some numismatists! Not journalists who pretend to be variety experts.

Not that it matters anymore. I strongly doubt I'll be submitting coins to PCGS in the future due to their horrible TrueViews and attributions. I'm just throwing money away with them. Hundreds of dollars wasted.

    @OAKSTAR

I KNOW that this is not the contact info you are seeking. But, it might be helpful in the future.

Not sure if it works when you are on their 'ignore' list, but I have been able to successfully send 'messages' to other members with a 'private profiles'. Here's how.

    Step #1:
First, select your "inbox" icon (upper right of screen).

    Step #2:
Next, select "New Message" from the drop-down.

    Step #3:
Finally, enter the member's name in the "Recipients" field.

  • Hi there —

You might want to get in touch with the PCGS team directly Isa (and maybe Edward Van Orden himself) often communicates through official PCGS channels rather than the public board. Try sending a message to PCGS Customer Service or posting in the “Announcements & News” forum where PCGS moderators and staff are more likely to see it. If Isa is a moderator or staff member, tagging them by username might also help. Good luck!
