Hunt Auctions shipment never arrived - FedEx driver problem -UPDATE! REFUND GIVEN!

judgebuckjudgebuck Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭

Won a card in a recent Hunt Auctions auction. $435 all together. They sent it FedEx with signature required and with a tracking number provided.

Card never arrived, but FedEx sent me an email that day saying it had been delivered and that I had signed for it. I did not.

I contacted FedEx, explained I had not signed for it, and was told I would be contacted within two business days. Two days later, I received an email from FedEx stating my package could not be located and that my claim was closed. I was never allowed to speak to a live person after it was referred for investigation.

I then contacted Hunt Auctions, and they seem to be willing to help me. Will let you know how it turns out.

That really sucks! Sorry man. However that's normal for Fedex

Several years backs due to similar occurrences which occurred to me all the time I made the determination to never deal with anyone who will not ship via USPS.

If you paid by CC you could always do a charge back.

I had it happen too with fedex...not from hunt but from eBay. They said it was delivered and showed a picture to someone else's house.

I called FedEx and they said it's delivered and didn't care. eBay didn't care cuz tracking said delivered.

    I got ripped.

    This sucks.

This is why I feel fortunate to have a place I can send all FedEx to hold packages until I can go by and pick them up. I try to never let them be delivered to my house anymore.

Chargeback + Fraud Claim and consider opening a report with your local law enforcement given the crime occurred in their jurisdiction.

If you don't already have one, I suggest getting a Ring or some type of doorbell camera. Having video footage has helped me resolving issues with the Big 3 delivery companies.

UPS takes pics of the delivery which I think all of the companies should do.

I had a similar experience, but my package was a huge box of record mailers. FedEx showed it delivered and signed by me, which wasn't true. Long story short, the next business day I drove over to the FedEx ground warehouse and spoke face to face with a FedEx manager. He was very helpful. He tracked the package down that same day and found that my package was still on the truck even though the driver showed it signed and delivered. Luckily it was properly delivered to me at the end of that day. I am not a FedEx customer and never use them for my own shipping. But it makes me wonder if this is an ongoing issue with FedEx drivers signing for packages without delivering.

CC is not an option with most auction houses.

Well, I got my money ($435) back! After FedEx initially denied my claim, by chance I saw a FedEx driver in my neighborhood. He saw me, stopped, and told me they were trying to find my package. I told him that I was going to the police and would pursue forgery charges against whatever FedEx driver had either forged my name or allowed someone else to do so. He then told me he "wanted to come clean" with me, and he confessed that he had left it behind a neighbor's house (Google Earth shows my address at my neighbor's house). I then reported my conversation to FedEx, and I will receive a check for the full amount.

Nicole at Hunt Auctions stayed in close contact with me and was very helpful in serving as a go-between with me and FedEx (their insurance). The check was sent by FedEx to Hunt Auctions, and Nicole put it in the mail to me today!

That's really cool David. Always good to see a happy ending to something like this.

The FedEx driver said he left it behind the neighbor's house (Google Earth shows my address as neighbor's house). The neighbor said they had not seen any package. I don't really believe that.

The Fedex Driver took it they are notorious for that. In my area it's truly epidemic.

If the Ground Drivers see an Auction as the sender or PSA's address they simply steal it. Keep in mind Fedex Ground drivers are contractors not employees.

I bet your card has been cracked out already and now that he has been tipped off I'd wager this driver thief will now wait 1-2 years then send it to SGC or BGS then sell it via a proxy.

BTW I had similar issue with a PSA submission. I have a life-long buddy in my local county DA office who was able to put on some heat at Fedex ground Distro center in my area.. A day after he did the package turned up as was brought to me - or should i say repackaged and turned up.

Folks be aware while the USPS is not perfect stealing mail in their system is federal felony thus the risk is generally not worth the reward. It's the exact opposite for a Fedex Contractor.

My old man always told me to get a postal money order because they were federal, instead of the local 7-11money order.

good point about the federal felony with USPS...unfortunately the last 2 packages I have tried to send to PSA using USPS were returned to me with holes in a side of the package that had been taped over...and of course USPS wouldn't refund my shipping costs even tho I provided pics of the damaged pkgs...I said enough of that crap and the last pkg I sent to PSA I used FedEx...it got there without issue so pretty happy about that
