1858 3CS 15% Off Center Strike DDO

I inherited large coin collection, and I’ve been collecting for about 10 years. I’ve never dealt with error coins, so I would like advice on the best way to go about selling this very rare coin. The only transaction I could find was 20+ years ago on Heritage selling for $1200. I would love to get it graded but can’t afford it right now. If anyone could chime in on a ballpark value, I’d be appreciative.

error coins are tough to value

you've got an off center broadstruck coin

lookin at the slightly raised metal around the ribbon seems like die deterioration and at the bases of the III has strike doubling - both won't add value, both won't hurt the value because the error value resides in it being an off center broadstuck coin

you'll need to find a error dealer/collector to advise on grading. it could be sold without it being grading as its authenticity can be visually confirmed by an error expert....who would be the bidders at auction

if only it were more off center it'd be worth more

oh. disposition and how and pricing all together

since it is hard to value and it must((?) be sold, the how is simply at auction. the bidders will decide its value

you've got stacksbowers, heritage auctions and great collections

I know that Great Collection will have it graded for you prior to any auction. That might be the way to go.
