Almost always face value unless we are talking severe slicks then maybe weight. Melt is currently 23.69x so $1 face is currently $23.69, $10 face $239.69, $100 face $2396.90 etc. Halves typically brin g slight premium compared to quarters/dimes in all my transactions. Don't let them lowball you. RGDS!

Edit to add, it is generally accepted that $1FV 90% contains .715 ozt of the gutter, so easy calculation is spot gutter price x .715 x face value amount. THKS!

At a coin show, what would you expect a reasonable offer would be compared to spot or say what JM Bullion is offering?
    thanks

Great advice but not always easy for someone that does not do these transactions often, appreciate your advice,

Show dealers around here we’re selling at 24x face and buying for 20x face last week (West Virginia).

for back of melt you'll have to hear from current buyers and sellers

for those that do face, you'll most often get a quote per face

We typically sell it close to spot and do it by the times face.

Right now $32.69 spot, I would typically round it up to $33 just to make a tiny bit over, 33 x .715 =23.595 so I would sell it for 23.5 times face to keep it round.

Lately at my work, we have been selling it at 24X so anywhere in that range is pretty reasonable to sell it for.

I plan to be unloading quite a bit of physical gutter at the big PAN show coming up in 2 weeks. Hoping we get a little pop prior to then. I will let you know what I am offered. RGDS!

Throw a picture of the half dollars on the BST classified section with a price.
    Pictures will help.
Then it depends on what half's you have and condition.

Hypothetically, I would want to buy it close to spot which right now would be:
    $32.26 spot
    23 x face

Sorry, I haven’t been on since last weekend… Getting caught up on my notifications and posts right now

Just being curious, and not antagonist as some perceive but I have a few questions and hope you can indulge.

Why would you want to buy as close to spot as possible? Is your area very competitive and you need to offer high to get inventory?

In your shop, do you have immediate buyers for 90% above spot? Do you have numerous buyers of $1000 or more? Are you willing to sell for less than cost if market declines? Are you able to hold large amount of inventory? Would you ever turn away a deal or quote a substantial discount? If so, why (other than being suspicious of the seller)?

    I don’t mind answering…
Our area is not overly competitive, sometimes we will up our offer slightly to make a deal happen, but not that much…

And yes, it comes in cycles, but we have large buyers, and then it’ll slow down for a while. Usually, if it does, we’ll just send the bulk to our distributor…

And yes, we can afford to hold large amounts. It’s really up to the owner wanting to.

As for selling less than cost, obviously that’s not something we would be very happy about, but I think he has on a few occasions if it’s been a big enough drop in price.
