Locking inventory ... PCGS Registry

In looking at the preference setting in the Registry section this afternoon I noted a feature called LOCK INVENTORY. Per the information icon it appears if one scans the NFC chip with your smart phone it will automatically start the 3 day clock to force a PCGS slab coin (w/ a NFC chip) to be removed from a persons inventory - and I presume this means their registry.
Does this solve some of headaches with registry removal requests not being honored within the 3 days? I never had tried using the scan when I receive the coin in hand to register one nor to have it forced to removed from other inventory.
Have any of you experience using this approach to register your pieces?

OMG ... it works! I just added a piece to my inventory that I had in hand using the NFC scan. I had sent in the removal request with the photos on Friday after their site started to work again. It is now in my inventory within seconds of scanning.

I've been posting this procedure on virtually every "can't add" post I've seen. They really need to make it a "Sticky" post, because it seems to come up at least once a week
yeap ... I just went back a few and read another complaint and their you were with a nice explanation. Thanks ... the "Sticky" Post concept is a good idea.

It'd sure fit better than a months-expired voting link that was also crippled from the start... [sigh]
This sure beats the old prior process of taking personal pics of the slab. Nice to see PCGS update the mobile app to make the process seamless.
I'm pretty sure it's been this way for quite a long time - just that very few ever realized it or took advantage of it.
Better late than never! Part of the issue for me was due to my IPhone not always picking up the NFC chips.
Nice! Too bad it only works with newer NFC slabs though.
