Devers now says he is agreeable to play wherever he needs to play to help the Red Sox win.

in Sports Talk
He has changed his tune and will now DH if needed.

I wonder what changed? did management finally tell him behind closed doors he would be dhing regardless of what he said and the optics would look awful for him if he publically rejected it.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
The Red Sox vastly improved themselves with Bregman at 3rd! It now will be on Devers to prove himself at the D/H spot.
NESN didn't air the game today but it sounds like Fitts really pitched well today!
imagine a station that only exists to broadcast red sox and bruins games that declines to show a game
must be great paying to watch some clown fish
Sale against Priester today and this one is on NESN.
The should have every game on TV as they have 2 channels on direct tv and surely they can find some place for them instead of some stupid replay of a woman's ice hockey game or Charlie Moore fishing as you say!
Was probably blacked out. MLB has the dumbest and weirdest blackout rules for TV out of all the major sports
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
Devers continues to do a slow boil over the DH/3rd base issue. He feels "disrespected", which to me is nothing more than a cop out. Far from being a professional, which would mean he would have to be aware of the situation, that there's a team member who's better than him and would add immeasurably at 3rd base. Devers feels entitled to 3rd base as though nobody could play the position better than him, regardless of his perennial shoulder issues. A team player he is not. There were rumblings of him wanting a trade, this I think was to poke the bear a little. Why would anyone pick up such a huge contract obligation coupled with a player with a severe attitude? Methinks the Red Sox have managed to once signed a losing contract to add to the previous pile of nonsense.
Should never, ever have traded Mookie!!!
It is incredible, truly incredible that a person who plays a kid's game 6 months of the year, making approximately $5 million a month could not see the reality of the situation. Breaking it down, unless my math is really whacked, Mr. Attitude is making $31,250 per hour against the average working man's 160 hour work month. Sick money !!
Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer
Ted Williams
Do you have an issue with how much $$$ he is making or that he really wants to play a position?
The Mookie trade was the best option since he kind of wanted out anyways. The biggest thing though was they waited too long and they wanted a discount for extending him and he wanted a full value free agent contract to agree to an extension which is what the Dodgers gave him. If they werent going to do that they didnt really have a choice but to trade him.
As for Devers he can request a trade all he wants, he has basically no trade value. Its hard enough to trade contracts like that especially at the start even for superstars which he is not. The Red Sox would have to either take on a few bad contracts or eat a ton of money if they wanted to trade him so that request would have been meaningless.
He could try and fake some injuries or strike out every AB as a DH but at the end of the day if he wants to keep getting paid he has to show up unless hes on the DL. Funny enough hes not even the worst contract in Red Sox history, but he was the wrong one to extend out of the Betts Bogi Devers group

Yup, I think anyone being paid that amount of money should be more focused on the team winning, not his little hissy fit over thinking he is the only person that can, or will play 3rd base.
What is he doing that hurts the team at all? Saying he wants to play 3rd?
A rare moment...100% agree. I couldn't have said it better.
I really don't care to play the answer your questions game. You've read my opinion of Devers. If you don't like my posts, don't read them. I will continue to post as I wish regarding Devers or anyone else. I think Devers is a time bomb in the making.
Answering questions is always optional. I don’t understand your reasoning so I ask a question. You seem to assume that I am challenging your opinion rather than trying to understand it. Your response indicates an avoidance of critical thought - responding without an answer reaffirming your position and displaying irritation at a benign question. Welcome to your new classification!
I said years ago that Devers was a terrible 3rd baseman as it's a key slot that needs to have a solid player at. He pouts and acts childish all the time. I am sick of his mannerisms and don't care if leaves the team as the Red Sox don't need his whining all the time.
Opinions are opinions, no more and no less. I just don't care to play your stupid game of my avoidance of "critical thought".
I don't owe anybody on this site any answer to any question posed to me. That you want to be the hall monitor and dissect and do some kinda lame Freudian crap language to discuss such an innocuous topic is rather childish at best. First you write that answering questions is always optional, then you slam me for not answering with your gibberish crap.
I think you need to grow up and not get so anal in your posts. This is all just BS in cyberspace. Your Welcome to your new classification! is by far one of the most infantile posts I've ever read here in my almost 20 years of being on this board. Who the hell do you think you are to classify me or anyone else here? Grow up.
Your boorish response is all I need to know about you.
Answers are always optional and this response is as twisted as your mind. I find you to be negative and crass. I can consider you how I wish and I consider you inconsiderate. You are classified as such. Peace Meowt!
