LOL! Game Used HEADBAND cards now in basketball!!

I knew they'd eventually have them and now people are paying for tiny little swatches of the headband when I go to games now to get them WHOLE and for FREE!

I've got the whole gu headband of Eddy Curry already (only one I got so far) -- now some of the people on these boards that have been making fun of me and Mr.Fire on here will probably be chasing the cards! Hilarious!

You can also get cards that has dirt, laces, walls, towels or whatever on. Is that worth collecting as well? Card companies will put ANYTHING on their cards...dosnt mean it's special. I doubt anyone will "chase" those cards considering they are ugly as hell.

The design is pretty bad, but still I knew they would eventually come out with them. There are already people buying them. When I said people would chase them I really didn't mean they'd be the most popular set around, but just buy some off ebay or where-ever.

Anyway, I just think the whole concept is ridiculous. Game Jersey cards were nice back around 1996/1997 when they were brand new but every year they just keep producing more and more and it has gone completely out of hand now and they are practically worthless.

Yeah, ugly cards but atleast it is real headband and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Anyone can go to the game (K-mart) and beg the players (3 for $1 basket) for their game used headbands.

I agree with that one other poster here, at least this is not some junk like a base, wall, dirt, floor, towel, etc. This is an actual game used item and you know it was worn by that player. I really see no difference with his card than with jerseys/shorts/shoes/etc, all the same thing, all actual game used. Of course, they are all worthless now, but at least its a real game used item

As for myself, I really only collect four players. Bonds,Sosa, McGwire and Griffey. I only have 1 bat card from McGwire, I need a JSY. I have several bat and JSY cards from the other 3. Other than that it's RC's and high end inserts. I trade for other GU, but, only to trade for more from the big 4. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a Ruth bat or JSY to. Maybe someday. So if you have any of the 5 mentioned LMK.

exactly.. well they are real -- hopefully I can snag Miles or Davis headbands at the game tomorrow. I don't care if any of you think they are fake, me and Shawn (MrFire) just go to the games to get auto's and bands. He's kinda showing me all his little secrets in this and I think it's great. And like Shawn said, he's not trying to sell them and neither am I. It's something for me to keep. I know people are so paranoid about fake items or signatures that they must have a COA from Topps, Fleer, UD, etc in order to believe it's real. But let me ask you -- which would you rather have: a card signed from a company or a card signed that YOU saw in person? a piece of a headband swatch on a card from a company or a WHOLE headband YOU got in person?

exactly! these people have no idea there real... i seen cases where the swatches are fake or misplaced, what about that corked bat in pacific??? i mean come on not all of it was worn by that person, u could have a card with a white swatch that came from leatner not jordan,lol...

id rather have the full intact band like TRSFPatch said....
and its custom made for the player (well some)
then some tiny card...but those r still cool...
But mine are cooler, and i know there real 2... i dont need no one telling me there fake, i know they are.. i mean u cant fake something being slid off tmacs arm and handing 2 me, unless someone was super quick and switched it.. lol

Its easier than you'd think to get the bands, all you have to go is go to the hotel before the game and ask the player for his band. This wouldn't be hard since you have season tickets and could tell the player where you'd be. Watch at the tunnel at the end of games and you'll always see players throw their bands.

The armbands and headbands you guys get are really not that rare... People like T-Mac have given out at least a thousand of them... Usually during warm-ups the player will give it to you if you ask... once again some throw them into the stands at half and after the game... this is not including all the other functions they do and charity and other people they meet in lockerrooms and other places. I know lots of people who have tons of stuff from players, even McGrady, with half a dozen of his wristbands and even a game-used shoe from him and its not like they brag to everyone about it. If you get it great its for yourself and your own personal collection but I doubt anyone really cares what you get at games from the players.

Trust me.... I live in Toronto, and I know tons of people with very accessible to the players seats... T-Mac always gives out him armbands and stuff. And yes, he did give and sign shoes for a friend of mine.

He sits right where the tunnel is an know all the players so he does get what he wants from most players. Plus, T-Mac sometimes gives out 2-3 a game... at least when he was here in Toronto.

Tmac Has 1, he has a shirt over it when hes warming up, he Takes off the Shooting Warm up... THen go;'s on floor... he then goes 2 the locker room, he only has one , not 2-3, geesh i live in orlando i kno how this workz... and i dont care how often u sit by the tunnel, Tmac hasnt even visited toronto a dozen times since leaving, and if he did the wristbands u have are not custom they just have 1 on them... believe me i kno about all of this

Did you know him personally like some friends of mine? No
All I'm trying to say is that the armband you have is not that special, it means something to you but nobody else on the board cares... these are items that mean something to you and you should just keep it to yourself. I don't know what T-Mac's habits are now but but back when he played in Toronto he would usually go to the lockerroom and get you one if you asked and now he probably just tells you that he needs it for the game.

Jon....don't even bother discussing the armband issue with this guy...it's useless. Armbands may be cool for the person who actually get's the item from the player directly but have absolutly no resale value. Anybody who would buy one of these is an idiot. The only way I would buy this as "Game Used" is if it came along with a certificate "ie...charity,PSA/DNA,Grey Flannel etc" Taking a kids word for it is not the way to go.

Be happy for mrfire and his armbands, they do look cool and this guy probably did get them at the games....heck he even shoots 3's with the Birdman Pat Garrity (He's called Birdman because he looks like a bird...not because he shoots like Bird) When it comes down to selling one of these....well we all saw when one of these was listed on ebay. All the sellers buddies or extra accounts got in the action and cranked up the price....but bet you no money exchanged hands....

I happen to be from Toronto myself and had the opportunity to meet Tracy at a pool hall. He was very friendly and was signing auto's without a second thought. Can't say the same about Vince....he's a pretty tough auto now but what can you do. If you have 10 of these armbands Mrfire, I'd suggest getting some of them a COA from a major authority and selling some of them. I mean 10 of them is a lot...I'd settle for 1 or 2......unless your trying to build a uniform out of them or something.

Just to help settle the Vince thing... he isn't allowed to sign under his contract with Fleer I believe, that is probably one of the main reasons why he shies away from it. During his first season or two he did have several autograph signing but due to contract obligations he now cannot. I believe the same situation is true with Jordan and Kobe.
