Does this look like a PSA 9?

The card was recently graded by 4SC. Does this centering meet the PSA 9 requirement?

It is a clean and sharp card with above average color and registration but many collectors focus primarily on centering. I believe this card is within the centering parameters for a PSA 9 (which is 65/35 at top) but not likely to appeal to those who place greater emphasis on centering.

  • The label certainly does.

If corners and edges were the only elements being graded, yes. Fisheye, slight tilt and 85/15 centering at the lower L/R. I would have thrown this card away if I pulled it, thinking this was a 7. Shows how little I know.

How do you know this is a 4SC graded card and not someone who sent it in for consignment? Y’all must be better than me in knowing this.

After having my 80s special pop last week where I busted a full case of 1987 fleer update. You know with the Maddux rookie where 9s sell for less than grading fees. I sent in only the 10 best centered ones. 50-50 nuts. They got 7-8s.
So I’m going to say no this does not look like a 9.

I agree. I never would have had this graded.

It's on their store website for sale--- $66.99. I believe most consignments go to auction. Check out surrounding cert

    92545188----- Ozzie gets a 9 also.

I wouldn't have sent it either if it was mine. I would get a 5 or 6 on that all day, every day.

These grading inconsistencies are exactly the reason they're getting less and less money from me all the time. It's starting to feel like a pump & dump scheme.

also the ink smudge/line near the upper left. Never-mind a 9 this card is an ugly 7

Thanks for sharing. I have been looking hard at the surfaces. In the last few years heavy emphasis on the cardboard itself, not just the print like it used to be. And I have no problem with that except there are millions of cards graded before 2021 that got PSA 10's irregardless of the cardboard flaws. Unless they are very noticeable like a lump or or divot.

I’m all about psa but I can’t see making excuses now after they never address it. I’m also aware of the new surface ai or whatever we are guessing now happens to our cards when graded. Same story different year. Not grading as much really has saved me a lot of money. I try here and there with hope. Less and less now

oh oh...I did pretty much the same thing...I know the chipping on the back edges are probably what determines the grades on those Fleer and Fleer glossy sets...I sent in nicely centered glossy cards that also had minimal whiting on the back edges

it's no wonder that seller sends in thousands and thousands of cards...how can you miss when you get reduced pricing and "favorable" grading. At some point something "not good" is going to happen with this practice.

This makes me think of the scene in the Flintstone movie where Fred is at the casino and the owner has a dial that can make everyone win or lose. Would be nice to know if the new ai grading tool has settings that can be dialed up and down at any moment.
