looks like a belt plate / buckle

    no evidence of anything being soldered to it. not sure if its a modern reproduction or if its original

    forgot to convert the file to jpg. the jfif file just doest isnt recognized

    That's a Civil War (or slightly earlier) belt plate! Some Federal troops wore those during the Civil War.

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
