Anybody familiar with the term "PEARL SILVER" on an antique souvenir spoon?

Looking through a collection of early 20th century souvenir spoons, mostly marker "STERLING," but there is one of a contemporary design marked "PEARL SILVER." Anybody ever hear of the term, and know what it means?

I suspect it is silver plated, but do not know the term.

    I remember the term pearl necklace, cannot recall a marker of pearl gutter. Sorry probably didn't help but hope you find the answer. RGDS!

    Had never heard or seen the term before. Was able to find one source that defined it as: " The phrase "pearl silver" was stamped on flatware that was actually nickel silver, that is made of copper, zinc and nickel with no silver content. "

    So apparently a marketing term to help sell the items I suppose.

    Same as German silver?

    From the source that I found, sounds like the same as German silver.
