Becketts has a Mantle on the cover. Think HOFers on the cover would be of value to some collectors.

In 2007 I offered the gift shop at the HoF about 150 Beckets from the 80's and 90s and I was turned down. I would have delivered them and given them free of charge. They're all mint as issued. Oh well.

The only becketts are probably the issue #1's of Football (bo), Basketball (jordan), and Hockey (gretzky), Bo is worth $10-15 raw and the others are $5-$10 raw... For any decent money you have to spend like $25 a pop to get them graded.....

unfortunately, they dont have much value. I love them though as the nostalgia is strong. I have a pretty good collection of 90s-00s becketts, tuff stuff, sports cards, sportscard trader, collectors sportslook etc. I don't have them all, but I love going back and reading the old stuff from time to time.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

like real estate location location location determines value same with collectibles it's condition condition condtion...i.e. same as a gem mint PSA 10 vintage card can OFTEN get 20 times that of a PSA 9 mint...old becketts in 9.8 grade get prices 100-200 times the cover price...do your research folks (ebay price history data)...2-3 years from now the naysayers will hang their heads low I'm thinking

Magazines, at least relatively newer ones, seem to have only mild collecting interest UNLESS YOU are the one trying to buy them! I've had to overpay for Garvey covers on oddball magazines before when others were trying for them. On the flip side, when I have tried to sell magazines, it's crickets!

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

Isn't this the truth! I collect magazines featuring/including articles on the 1989 Batman movie and if I luck out, they are $1 to $5 max at flea markets, antique stores, etc. But the moment I seek out a specific copy of something, its $10-20 plus shipping.

Same thing goes for any Beckett or hobby magazine I need for an old ad or article.

Not tremendously rare or valuable but I always wanted the first Beckett from each sport. It was cheaper to rebuy them rather get the ones I saved as a kid graded. I think the issue with old becketts is that they were all bought by people with collector ocd traits so many have been well taken care of. Even as a kid I remember buying sleeves for them to keep them mint if Jordan, Bo Jackson, Barry sanders etc… were on the cover.

Nice...That Beckett #1 baseball seems to be tough to find in 9.0 and above...I think that your beckett #1 in 9.2 could bring $1K+...2-3 years likely to double in value from my perspective/ viewpoint...seen 9.8's high grade for the others sell for $350-750 recently...

I agree. I think the baseball one is much more limited. I upgraded the basketball and football ones to a 9.0 and 9.4 for about 50-75 bucks each. I didn’t realize how cheap they were. I’m glad I got the ones I saved in my parents attic slabbed but the grading fees were more than they are worth lol. I’ve always just collected what I found interesting and if they happen to go way up in value then it’s just gravy.

Some of the cards from the Legends Magazines sell for a decent amount to Set Registry Master Set participants, if you do a great job of cutting them out and they grade highly. It's a gamble because it is easy to screw up your cuts, but it can be worth it if you do it right.

The #1 baseball Beckett was always desirable. Even 30+ years ago it was a $100 item and that’s assuming you could even find one. The #1 football Beckett was really hot when it was released…and it didn’t take long for it to be $25-30. Everyone, of course, bought as many #1 basketball and hockey issues as possible when those were released…and consequently kept them in mint condition. (I’m sure Beckett printed many more of those anyway.)

I still have this 1991 SCD Price Guide Mag.
It's worn and the cover is torn off, but I kept it for the cards inside.
Who wouldn't? Canseco is going to be the best hitter ever and Clemens is going to be the best pitcher ever and Ben McDonald is the best prospect ever. And Pedro who. Ramon is THE Guy. Oops.
I mean, why would I bother buying the other issues with Griffey, Rickey, Bo, Brett cards in them?
I'd be able to retire real early with these. Oh well...
