I remember going there back in the mid 90's
The place looks amazing from the pics.
I was in Las Vegas only once, as a young kid around 14 years old, with the fam when we did a West Coast travel vacation. I was a loose cannon, and decided to walk around Vegas by myself rather than hang out with the parents and be bored. The larger casinos immediately threw me out, wouldn't let me in, but I snuck into some of the small ones off the strip a little bit. Where they had only slots, basically only one attendant at a booth, and no main entrance, so it was easy to just walk off the street out of view from the attendant, and begin playing.
Well I'm playing this nickel slot, and boom, I hit it and a light comes on at the top of the machine, etc, got paid around $5 in nickels and I'm happy as a clam. Put 'em in the little bucket and I walk away from the machine to get out of there before they might confiscate my winnings.
So anyway one of the nicest acts of kindness I've ever experienced then happened. I'm maybe a few feet walking away from the machine, and a middle age lady walks up to me and says, No don't go, you've got ten spins left.
I had no idea what she was talking about, but she quickly said, You hit a jackpot and what that means on that slot is that it lets you do ten more spins on a jackpot cycle, you just need to put a nickel in for each spin and you will win another jackpot on some of the spins.
Well so that's what I did, put a nickel in ten more times and hit on four more jackpots of around $5 each. The slot tray was filled with nickels. She was watching. When it was over, I grabbed a handful of nickels and placed them in her cup, and profusely thanked her. I filled up my cup with the rest of the nickels and didn't want to cash them in, for fear of confiscation, so I vamoosed out of there quickly.
I will never forget that act of kindness as most anyone else would have just let me walk away, and just put in the ten nickels themselves and win the money.
I figure that I may be one of the very few who overall ever made a profit in Las Vegas. Wish I could say the same for Atlantic City. LOL

The Tropicana has been a bit of a dump for at least 30 years so I’m glad they’re doing something. Having a stadium there is going to be interesting. I was in Vegas last November during the F1 race (during. Not for) and it’s such a mess around the strip already. Does anyone know where exactly they are planning on putting the stadium?
Tropicana was coming down either way its just a question of what was going to replace it. It could get interesting over the next couple months. Vegas wants a baseball team, they just dont want it to be the penny pinching As getting prime real estate on the strip

I don't think Las Vegas was too overly concerned about the loss. LOL
I went back to the hotel, left the nickels there, and found my Dad playing poker at Caesars where we were staying. They had like a balcony area in one spot where you could be any age and watch the players at some tables. You weren't technically in the casino where kids were not allowed. So I watched him play from the balcony. I couldn't see the suit of the cards, but I didn't see many chips coming his way after the hands were shown. I'm not sure what my Dad lost, but he just couldn't catch a card. Good thing he was disciplined enough not to blow all the vacation money.
It will be interesting to see what they do with it. I've predicted that sooner or later these sports teams are going to offer gambling at their stadiums. They just need state legislation to do it. The potential bonanza is just too big for them and money hungry states to pass up. This Las Vegas stadium may eventually be the first.
It would be a sports gambling addiction paradise. Sure ya can gamble on sports online, but being there at the stadium perhaps increases the adrenaline rush thrill to an even higher level.
A lot of states have sports books at pro stadiums for more than one sport. I am interested to see what ends up happening for that piece of property, I dont think the As deserve it though and would prefer an expansion team or someone else. I have a hard time seeing a team like the As who just sent their best player down to AAA being successful there on the strip. Vegas certainly isnt known for things succeeding that wont spend money

Draft Kings has a sports book during the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament.
Almost hard to believe at a golf tournament for crying out loud, if that's what you meant. A golf crowd of course is normally a different type of crowd than say a football game, IE quiet when the players are about to swing, etc.
Like they really need a bunch of possibly raucous gamblers out there? But I guess money trumps tradition. 💵
The Waste Management tour is like the Happy Gilmore of golf tournaments. Its by far their most electric event and they cut off beer sales this year from people doing snow angels in the sand traps. They have the beer snakes and everything. Its the one really fun golf thing. A lot of the younger players like it and gold should really lean into it more for that atmosphere.
The Athletics will be playing the 2025 season and the 26 season and 27 season and possibly the 28 season in Sacramento
3 full seasons and possibly a 4rth season until the stadium is ready to go In Vegas.
The only question I have is which team will win a playoff series 1st in Sacramento the Kings or the A's ?
Kings. The As might not win 100 games in their next 2 seasons combined which is basically impossibly bad. Anytime someone starts playing to well they send them to the minors. At least with the Kings they could have an offseason where a couple superstars decide to team up to go there
The As are so cheap that Oakland offered them a 3 year extension for 60 million dollars total and they turned it down.
