RIP Bud Harrelson

Just heard this news. Sad for all long-time Met fans and very personally affected since Harrelson was a childhood mentor and friend.

He will be fondly remembered

I always remember the fight between Harrelson and Rose at Shea Stadium in the 1973 NLCS playoffs when Rose slid hard into 2nd base attempting to break up a double play ball.

And Pete's still not in the Hall of Fame? C'mon baseball, nobody played the game harder than Rose did!

With counsel, he voluntarily agreed and signed to 'a lifetime ban'. End of discussion.

Harrelson was class act. From a human being perspective Rose simply could not hold a candle to him.

BTW I'm NOT a Met's fan never was, never will be. But lets let this thread be about him and him only!

According to Pete, Garrett didn't help. Rose claims he grabbed Harrelson after Harrelson called him a name after he tried to break up the DP. Rose said the real fight didn't start until Garrett jumped onto them and started throwing haymakers.
