All time "George" baseball team...is there a better first name team than this?

Using WAR for simplicity...

C George Mitterwerald 6.1
1B George Sisler 57.2
2B George 'High Pockets' Kelly 25.9
3B George Brett 88.6
SS George Davis 84.5
LF George Springer 36.2
Cf George Kenneth Griffey JR 83.8
RF George Herman Ruth 182.6
DH George Foster 44.1

SP George Thomas Seaver 109.9

718.9 Total WAR
7 Hall of Famers

Would Jorge Posada qualify as a "George" via the translation?

I remember we did this once long ago.
    Lots of excellent Willie hitters….

    Willie Mays
    Willie Stargell
    Willie Keeler
    Willie Mccovey
    Willie Davis

Just off the top of my head, don’t know about pitchers

    Stupid list…. Mistlin

Yes, it was done before. Reviving it. I forgot the other name that was a tough team too. Willie might be it.

I forgot Willie Wilson and Willie Randolph.
That would be a great hitting lineup with Wilson and Keeler hitting 1 and 2 in the lineup with Mays, Stargell and Mccovey behind them.

But no pitchers to match George Seaver.😂
    Sounds funny calling him George!!

    Stupid list…. Mistlin

Stargell’s real name was Wilver and I remember early on he would sign his name Wilver. Vin Scully said he would call him Wilver because Stargell’s mom appreciated it.

It sure would be fun to watch a game between the Georges’ and Willie’s’.
I remember back in the mid seventies to early eighties I didn’t want to see the Royals against the Pirates in a World Series because Brett and Stargell were my two favorite players and I didn’t know who I would root for. Now I wish it would have happened, I couldn’t lose because one of them would win.

I always got a kick out of that.

Even funnier to me was who has the most strikeouts lifetime with the first name of Lynn?

Bamberger and Sparky could Co-Manage the team

    George Stone P
    Doc Medich P
George Mitterwald behind the plate or go to 1st in later innings
    Scott at 1st,
George Zeber at 2nd or Short,
Hendrick somewhere in the outfield, or I could use him as a pinch runner

just trying not to use: Ruth, Brett, Foster, and that one dude we talked about from that Steak House last week...

now thinking know, I could move Zeber over to short, put Jorge Orta at second, or keep Zeber at 2nd, and have Orta DH

there have been some pretty good mickey's play the game:

    Cochrane
    Vernon
    lolich
    Rivers
    tettleton
    hatcher
    morandini
    welch

oh yeah, that guy Mantle too.

they might not beat the George's, but they might hold their own

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I think the all Mike teams would be pretty good too:
    Trout
    Schmidt
    Mussina
    Piazza
    hampton
    napoli
    cameron
    sweeny
    brantly
    bourne

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

    here ya go...
    Cuellar Starter P
    Caldwell Starter P
    Marshall Relief P
    LaValliere C
    Hargrove 1B
    Tyson 2B
I’m stuck with someone at short
    Cubbage3B
    Ivie 1B/OF

and if I need another 1st basemen, then I'd go with Squires...or if need another pinch hitter than I could go with Greenwell

How about Mike Philips at SS since you don’t seem too concerned about how terrible your team would be?

Man did I ever space that one out with Phillips, and I just used him on the grids the other day...

I'm thinking too I might go with Mike Roarke for the manager there... :)

I think you have built a team that Albert Belle would not be able to bully with Mike Tyson playing 2b. I would love to see Albert try to lower his shoulder on Iron Mike!!

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

@GroceryRackPack I see what you did there. I think I will stick with Iron Mike at 2b. I dont think many guys will try to break up the double play on him!!!

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
