I heard a story that Ohtani bought one of his new Dodger teammates wife a Porsche because the teammate gave up his jersey number for Ohtani.

Yes he is that great. Hes an ace when healthy as a pitcher and an elite hitter. He also deferred 680 million of the contract for 10 years interest free to bring down the luxury tax implications and so the team could sign another superstar.
He only makes 2 million a year from the contract for the next 10 years, but he makes over 40 million a year in endorsements so hes not worried about money. His contract will basically pay for itself anyways with merch and the Japanese market. Most people dont realize just how big he is in Japan. Giving him 70 is like giving someone else 20
Joe Kellys wife was the one he got the Porsche, she was also one of the ones that started the get Othani to the Dodgers campaign on social media. She and Joe did a pretty funny video about him giving up his number.

Fans will pay for sure. Dodger Stadium can hold 56K and they avg 47K and change in attendance for 2023. Easily over 50K for this coming season. Ohtani is huge in Japan, which we know, but also Korea, Taiwan, and etc.
