SOLD!!! 1937 Proof Buffalo Nickel PCGS PR67+ with CAC

I consigned this coin in the current Legend Regency Auction 61, Lot #66.

Here is their “flowery” description:

OFF THE CHARTS eye appeal! While there are plenty of pieces that technically grade finer, we think it would be challenging to find one with the appeal of this beauty! Take a peek at this piece and it's like looking into a clear mountain lake. Blinding mint brilliance accents chiseled design details. The coin looks like it was struck yesterday! My goodness, what a beauty!

PCGS 621, NGC 402, CAC 310. The PCGS Price Guide list is $4,250. The most recent trade of a CAC stickered coin was in February 2022 where it brought $2,040, but it is important to note that coin had a big black spot on the obverse. Non CAC coins that have subsequently sold have brought more! Keep your bidder paddle in the air, if you wish to make this GEM a part of your collection!

The PCGS Pop at PR67+ is 101, NGC is at 30.

First, thank you for your kind words.

I had obtained a real nice PR68 w/CAC at a fair price that I did not anticipate becoming available at this time. Yes, had I had a crystal ball and saw the 68 would be available, I would not have bought this lovely 67+ seven years ago back in 2016.

Unfortunately, I have a costly weakness as a collector. I don’t have the patience to wait MANY years to fill slots in my sets for coins with relatively low pops in the grades I want with CAC stickers, graded by PCGS, and most importantly, with the eye appeal I like. So when one finally comes along, like this PR67+ did several years ago, I buy it. I recognize the time could come, like it did now, that the coin in the ideal grade with the other parameters I want could become available, and then I would incur transaction costs. While I’ll still net a nice profit on this sale due to the time that has passed and a favorable market, many times that’s not what happens to me - the “filler” nets a loss when sold. However, I look at those situations as the “rent” I pay for having had that nice coin hold that spot for me until the nicer coin eventually came along.

What a terrific explanation and one I think many of us can absolutely relate to, to the core.
I wish your 67+ had a TrueView! I bet it is an outstanding coin, in hand that unfortunately doesn't
translate with the photos provided.

The coin in hand looks as you'd imagine, by recognizing distractions in the photos shown are basically from reflections, and in my opinion are not on the coin. Thanks.
