2 for me are from the same set 1951 Parkhurst Maurice Richard PSA 7 and Gordie Howe KSA 6.5. Paid 2000$ for the Richard and about 1200$ for the Howe back in the day. Could not afford either anymore.

Early graded (0xxxxxxx) 1964 Mantle and 1967 Mantle both PSA-9 and a 1957 Mantle PSA-8.5….high end Mantle cards are a hold.
My 1956 Topps HOF set minus the Clemente and Mantle, all graded PSA 8.
I sold an entire 1986 Fleer basketball set in 1990 for $800 to buy a stereo system for my college dorm room.
I also once traded a friend a 1933 Goudey Sport Kings Ty Cobb that was probably a PSA 7 for his 1971 Terry Bradshaw rookie (which ended up being a PSA 5) because I didn't collect baseball and only collected football.
Nice Elgin Baylor RC I sold for $200 that went up to about $2K a year later now back down to $500 so if I wait long enough I could consider it a win.

The 57 Mantle was the one that ended in 502 correct? That was a monster and passed on it a couple of times which was a bad idea on my part.
That was the one Keith….yep I offered it to you but you passed. A collector who also had a PSA-8.5 1956 Mantle bought it.
1961 fleer 8 Wilt and 43 West in PSA 8.
Don’t rub it in - should nit have passed on it.😉
When I was in 8th grade in 1984 I lost a Johnny Bench rookie in a game of poker (we were using cards as our 💵)
A couple of yrs later a buddy of mine sold his Nolan Ryan rookie for a bag of weed.

In 1991 me and a friend put a NM/MT- maybe MINT 1935 Chicle Bronco Nurgurski Rookie card on our credit cards with the intentions of selling it at the National that year...we paid $6000 for the most awesome card...it was a bit off center from left to right maybe 35/65 or 70/30...corners sharp as hell...we sold it at the 1991 national for around $8000 if i can remember right...A recent PSA 8 card of Nurgurski rookie sold for $350,000 in 2019 or so...we profited then but then came grading in 1998 or so and everyone now knows the value of the grading to the entire worlds gum picture cards...PS.. i think there is one 9 of this card...it was definitely an 8 buy any standards...maybe that card is the 9 but not sure as the centering was tight for a 9....as always who knew

Purchased this one for about $700 around 2005. Sold for about $1300 a couple years later. Was happy at the time. Now, not so much. I did replace it with an SGC 88, but I wish I still had both.
I had so many chances to buy a Brown rookie kept on saying later then later came and now it costs a whole lot more.

10 to 12 years ago I sold on eBay a 1955 Koufax PSA 8 for $2200ish.
Also 1975 Ryan and Brett PSA 9’s $2150 for Ryan and $500 for Brett.
1954 J. Robinson PSA 7.5 for $300 or $400 can’t remember exactly.
West had two cards in the 1961 Fleer set, number 43 and number 66 (In Action).
Sold my 1986 Fleer Jordan PSA 9 for $1,800 in 2014. Used it as a down payment for my wife's wedding ring.
I got into collecting early Exhibit cards around 2011-2012 which was great at the time because they were relatively cheap. I had a 1926-29 Exhibit Jimmy Foxx rookie in a PSA 4 that I sold for about $300 on Ebay. ughhh. I sold it to pay myself back on my purchase of a 1929 Kashin Jimmy Foxx PSA 8. Still wish I had the Exhibit.
Bought a few generational cards and a nice Mantle when the Philly show was in the Fort Washington Expo center, Not at the same time, but over a show or three....

I way overextended my credit cards and felt "vunerable" - so I sold them back to the dealer (for a loss...)
I hindsight it probably was a 6mo to a one year painful belt tightening exercise and I'd still have them.
I still have the serial numbers in case any of them show up again. Yeah, right!

I sold one of my NNOF Frank Thomas rookies in BGS 8.5 a few months before the pandemic. I paid 2.5k and sold for 6K so I did nicely. had i waited a year or so I could have probably gotten 12-15K for the same card.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I sold most of my 70's & 80's basketball 3-6 months before the pandemic and The Last Dance. I did fine with them but had I waited just a bit longer I would have made 3-5x more.
Not cards but I sold all my Topps wax trays for $5K around 8 years ago. The ‘75 baseball tray that was in that group is worth that alone now.

T206 Red Ty Cobb PSA 3 with a ghost image on back. Paid $900 for it and traded it for a 1963 Fleer Dawson and Alworth both in PSA 9’s. Sold the entire 63 Fleer set in PSA 8 or better for $4500. Great deal at the time. Now it looks foolish.

Thankfully I rarely got rid of anything.
Two that I recall that stung a bit were an Alcindor RC, but it did have some light creasing across the top. Traded it for some modern baseball at the time (mid 80s). I did eventually replace it with one that was not creased, but had a couple staple holes, but getting a clean copy in top shape is out of my spending comfort zone.
The other was a Frank Thomas Extra Bases prototype card (actually a pair) from a card/game that was pitched to Fleer. Bought the whole set from Ted Taylor on ebay (it came with a packet of info on the game, some notes, etc) and ended up breaking it up and selling most of the singles and many went relatively cheap (which I also regret), but had kept the 2 Thomas and the Piazza cards for myself. Got into a financial bind and felt I needed some quick cash and sold those to a Thomas collector for $200. I thought they might have been unique at the time, but have seen other copies. I'm sure there couldn't have been more than a handful of sets made, but that is just an assumption. I don't know what replacing them might cost now, maybe not even $200, but I wish I would have held on to them.
One last card that I didn't sell, but didn't pay for after i won. Same financial crisis, I had won a 1952 Topps Bobby Morgan autograph card for around $50. I immediately ceased all ebay activity and basically begged the seller if I could back out of this purchase to save the $50! in the end, the $50 probably made little difference and it eventually all worked out. I'd much rather have those 3 cards now for sure than the $250.
Can't remember the exact date but 5-6 years ago sold my 1987 Fleer Jordan PSA 9 for about $600 which at the time was 2x what I paid for it......oh well
