HELP!!! Stolen card... Keep a lookout. REWARD.

I recently made a trade with a great trader on SCS that I've traded with before. We had an agreed trade where I was getting an 02-03 Heads Up Fedorov Red Parallel Serial Numbered 80/80. I received the envelope today and the card had been removed. The envelope has been sliced open on the end. It's obvious that the card was inside because it has a Postal Sticker on it for $1.40 from Canada. An empty envelope doesn't cost $1.40 to ship. Second, the envelope has a square imprint from where the card was at. And, the guy is an excellent trader with a great rep there so that's enough anyway. I have contacted my PO and they have told me to fill out a Lost/Rifling report (I just got the form an hour ago). I am simply asking that you all keep a lookout for this card being it shouldn't be difficult to recognize with its unique serial number. If someone can locate it, I'll try to compensate you in some way. We are both going to keep a lookout on ebay as well but there are too many other trade sites I don't know about that many of you may be a part of as well as Yahoo auctions that I never look at. Thanks a ton for your help.

  • LMAO, you have got to be kidding me...do you think anyone is just gonna find this laying on the street?
  • That sucks. Ill keep a look out. Ebay would be also a good place to keep looking as this person might try to sell it.
  • That sucks Zack, i am very sorry to hear that. Just curious... who was it from? pm me that.
I will keep a look out for it bud.

EHTHOCKEY09 - Man, you must be stupid. I don't think I told anyone to check their couch cushions. I know that the card will be nearly impossible to find, but being that it was stolen it may show up somewhere for sale/trade. So maybe you should just shut your piehole !!!

Baljit - Thanks. That's simply all I was asking. Just thought I'd throw it out there so if anybody happened to see it listed somewhere, they could simply give me a "Heads Up" (no pun intended).

  • I sent someone a Robert Alomar 4 color patch card (red, blue, white, grey) out of 2002 Donruss Classics and when they got the bubble mailer it was ripped open and the card was gone and the guy made me send him twice what it booked to make up for it and he was still mad at me and how is that even my fault.
  • same thing happened to me, only mine came in a little type bag from the post office talking of "damaged mail" and my commons where in there but no GU, i still believe joe benson sent my cards tho...

I know he sent as we've traded before without any probs... He said he'll send something to make up for it so he's not lying. He insisted on sending something HEAVILY in my favor he said, but that's not what I want as it was something out of our control. I didn't even care about the cards and told him not to worry about it, but he's too nice to let it slide. This is the only reason I hate sending cards to Canada. Cost more than the trade to register it much of the time but if you don't, KaBang!!! Lost/Damaged/Stolen. As I told him, it's bad enough when you have to weed through the thieves on the net, but how do you weed through the ones at the PO?

  • you people are morons, the card was not stolen, when the envelope went through the machine that reads the address, the envelope got caught and it ripped on the side, and the card slid out somewhere. Its common when idiots send cards in regular envelopes. Its happened to me before when moron traders send cards in plain envelopes, and the side is slit open, or its ripped, or it comes in one of those UPS "We're sorry" bags. Theres just no common sense in people. Stolen..lol..yea someone at the post office pulled out a knife, sliced it open, and stole a $5 card..get realistic. I wouldn't go around telling everyon this guy is rip off..he will make good on it..

  • This has happened to me too. And the previous poster is right, this is a machine rip, not a person who ripped it. I mean heck, why even bother cutting it open, if you are going to take the card the guy at the PO may as well just take the whole envelope. This is all machine, not a person

  • thanks zimmy! yea thats a tuff break man, but your lucky its only a $5? card. Nothing that special. I lost a $80 card ( at the time in 1996). It was tough, it was a very rare card i needed for my set, it was about a year and half later when i finally had a chance to get another one..

Well, first off the card is $40 and not $5 so I wouldn't call it luck. Second, I used to work at the PO during the summers for some extra cash and the sorters do not make a clean cut. They get jammed and tear an envelope, but do not make a clean cut. So to call people morons isn't really appropriate here...

  • Seth and Zimmy are right. I got back three autographed cards of Marcus Camby and the envelope was ripped and in one of their "I'm sorry" bags. It probably just fell out.

    60+ sucessful trades on here.
  • If someone at the PO wanted to steal it they would take it out of the envelope so there's no evidence. If someone sees a card in their pocket it's ok but if someone sees an envelope with someone elses address in their pocket then it's mail theft fines, imprisionment, and a firing from their job. You say dirtymonkey's a moron for thinking it got stolen but a mailman wouldn't be a moron for walking around with envelopes in his pocket?

  • I never said he was a moron, I gave my opinion. And come on, if there is a camera on the guy or someone watching him it wouldnt matter if they saw the guy put an envelope in his pocket or cut it open and stick a card in there. It would take less time to do that too. Also, the tear probably depends on how it got caught, maybe sometimes it will mess it up but sometimes just make a cleaner cut. It's definately a possibility that it was stolen, but I bet its more likely that it was just ripped by a machine

Well, the only bonus here is that I am not accusing anyone directly. You would have to see the envelope
to come to the same conclusion I guess. There was a sleeve in the envelope as well (the kind with the sticky back that you slide the toploader into) and it's cut as well. This post is simply to ask that if anybody sees the card, LMK if possible. Even if the envelope got torn by some machine, who's to say that the card was not found after the fact and still taken instead of turning it in? Covering all bases if I can here.

    Thanks SoDo... image
