A couple of newps for my World Coins Circulating in Early America Set.

With the inability to source the coins I need to complete several of my Spanish colonial portrait sets, most particularly my Charles III set, I've momentarily shifted my focus to my World Coins in Early America Set.

Having a few things to work on definitely helps me to keep my collecting sanity intact.
With my other sets it can be difficult to locate reasonably nice material to incorporate into the sets.
Also, thus far for me, it has proven very tiresome to try and play the crossover game.
I'm finding that sometimes taking a breather is the best thing I can do for myself.

That is a very attractive piece.

Would you be able to elaborate on some aspects of the designs symbolism?

To me the obverse seems to convey a bit of despair or defeat.
With the broken sword, toppled scales and the cap cast off on the ground.

While the reverse equally displays an abundance symbolism. With the wreath around what I believe to be an olive branch(?), the horn of plenty and I can't tell for sure if the children are being protectively held back, or if they are ushered forward for what will hopefully be better circumstances.

I like that 2R, not easy to find them with that much detail without being damaged. Very nice!

Thank you. Sorry for not replying sooner, but I see that @carabonnair already posted the CoinFacts link, which has pretty good info on the piece. You could also read the Colonial Newsletter, December 1999 for more detailed information (free download at NNP).
