OF course the challenge is maintaining a Pristine GEM MINT 10 of the card itself along with a stellar auto....... it requires the collector to preserve the naked card from the pack and get the auto as pristinely as possible .... its the Non Topps Certified Auto which is much more personal and involves more vulnerability but with a big pay off on many levels. Please share more if you care to.

Very rare items! Will they be the "wave of the collecting future"? Possibly.
It depends on how the modern collectors decide how to collect. When things get too rare, some collectors don't see the possibility of acquiring an item and move to something else.
Also there are still a lot of people who don't like the cards signed that were issued without autographs.
I would rather have the card unsigned, but I am a dinosaur. ;-)
I'll tell you what, that Dale Murphy Auto is like a Rembrandt.....what a gorgeous sig. there.....and that guy was such a stellar example of a dignified class act....I'd love to get that card..... I hope perhaps he gets into the HOF ... his character alone is top shelf and a back to back MVP winner on top of it..... I grew up watching WTBS and the braves were as reliable as electricity...along with the WGN Cubbies.....night in night out.
Some forget this fella won 303 games and more Cy Youngs than Greg Maddox with 5.......
Like someone else may have eluded to, I believe this niche is too narrow to become the most desirable way to collect a rookie card. In the future, when someone asks, "Hey, what's the best rookie of _________? I don't believe the main answer will be a PSA 10 card with a PSA 10 auto. I think the most desired card will still be a high end or rare product in PSA 10. Just like today, the high end cards limited to 5 or 1 are cool, but aren't available to most collectors.

I have noticed that 4 Sharp corners has many of these. I think you have to be in a position to get the player to sign a card that has already been graded a 10. Not many of us would take a Murphy oR Ripken out of a 10 holder to get an auto. The player could hurt the card, you could hurt card, etc. PLus that player would have to be available to do it. i think this is an orchestrated event in order to have it happen and get the card regraded a 10.
You could be correct. All the Football rookies Are now game used auto cards. Some already graded by Beckett. Guess the trick is to get a black label.

Never cared for grading auto. Considering I've never seen one graded under a 7 or a half grade, there's only 3 levels. Plus as discussed in the Mantle thread, it leaves a lot of nefarious room in the pop report. One could state a card grade with a psa 8, 9 auto and technically be a Pop 1. Same goes with any other grade. Cards issued in packs, I can understand. In person, different story.

Funny....everyone said that it was a horrible idea to have a rookie card signed...and now they are in demand....
Reminds me of the CDC when they said DO NOT WEAR A MASK unless you are sick or taking care of someone sick...then they changed it to everyone must wear a mask once they bought all of them available in the world. lol WTF

It turns out the Mantle Auto '52 Topps in a PSA/DNA 10 might sell for a 2 trillion dollar stimulus check from Uncle Sam..... Yeah~ I think I'd rather have his Auto on the sweet spot....
Love the duel grade rooks. There are two 9’s for the card grade and no duel dimes. I like the auto placement of mine
