A nice local fellow who has done my taxes, Dan wouldn't even accept remuneration, very nice guy!

He was looking for some key date coins, recommendations?

1924s buffalo nickel vf

1916d dime in g, vg or fine

1870 cent in vf

1921d walker half in fine 15 to vf 20

1914d cent vf

1914d and 1915s buffalo nickel in fine

    That's actually what I told Dan, but did look for him at a shop that has a lot of coins, the keys can be harder to find.

    show them a redbook and let him decide which series they like, and then ask what price range they want to spend on each...

    Certainly there are more choices for all coins, key dates included, on ebay than in ANY COIN SHOP.

    Best venue for looking.

    None of those are rare or difficult to find so tell him to take some time and look around for a nice one before purchasing.

    Agreed on eBay. At least start looking there. He will find these "key dates" are available by the dozen if not by the gross. I'd advise spending a bit extra and getting ones in a slab for some insurance against shoddy sellers though.

    Are those specific requests of your friend? Or suggestions you gave him? If requested, it might be advisable to find one or two and give them to him.... This will ensure free tax preparation continues.... ;) Cheers, RickO

    I offered him a 24-s Buff that was a certified fine and refused the free offer; he has raw coins he wants me to get certified which I will happily do, but has been slow to act.

    @logger7 I seriously recommend you do the following if you want to ensure no future hard feelings and that he is happy...

    Tell him, "The same as in your profession, to do well with coins involves initial study and research to avoid making mistakes which will cost you. How about I give you a few links to read and then we schedule a time for me to buy you a coffee and we sit down and dive into it a little. I want to give you as good of advice as you give me. Just like you can't just tell me 'Pay these taxes' I can't just tell you 'Buy this coin'. "

    His work was worth at least a few hundred dollars; I'll try to get him one or two on his list that are no question nice coins that he should like.

    If from you, might I suggest a nice high grade proof from the year he was born? Say a PF65 Cameo half?
