Your most memorable NCAA men's basketball tournament.

In 1976 I followed Rutgers on the NJ network. They were undefeated going into the Final 4 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. I was 11 years old at the time. I grew up 5 miles from Rutgers, so it was exciting. Problem was that Indiana was undefeated going into the final four, and eventually finished the season undefeated with the championship.

I recently worked three days with Mike Dabney, Rutgers 2nd leading scorer from that 1976 team. Most people remember Eddie Jordan and Phil Sellers, but Mike was a great player. We had a good time talking about that 1976 season.

What was your most memorable ncaa basketball tournament ?

I can think of that time Villanova beat Georgetown after they shot like over 70% to beat a VERY good Georgetown team. And that Duke win in Philadelphia was a tournament everyone will remember too.

Not a finals game, but in the sweet sixteen, St Joe's took down #1 DePaul when DePaul missed a one and one with about 10 seconds left and St Joe's Brian Warwick dribbles thru three DePaul defenders, passes to an open man (Lonnie McFarland) in the corner. As DePaul run out to block the shot, He finds an open John Smith cutting to the basket for a layup as time expires. St Joes was a huge underdog in the game. They went on to beat Boston College in the Elite Eight and then got dismantled by the eventual winner, Indiana. Back then, there was no shot clock so St. Joe's held the ball out to shorten the game.

1977........... Marquette beats UNC-Charlotte in the semi with a length of the court pass and stuff at the buzzer. Beating North Carolina in the final was almost an anticlimax. Al McGuire's final game. It's all seashells and balloons.................

1988- Danny Manning and Kansas weren't supposed to be able to run with Oklahoma.
    Halftime- 50 to 50.
Manning played great and led Kansas to the upset. Think they were a 7 seed if I remember.

Our Cinderella-ish 2014 run! Boy that was so exciting that we didn't quit when most everyone left is for dead... Just like Nancy Kerrigan from about ten years prior, we didn't stop until we brought home the silver! 😊

1983 NC State. And after watching ESPN's 30 for 30 on that tournament, it was amazing that team won the championship with everything they had going against them. It was truly a MIRACLE!

IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED

Jim Valentino running around the court has got to be the most iconic moment in NCAA tournament history...I guess he just didn't know quite what to do with himself!

I just don't think I can pin point just one iconic moment in UK history that really honest to goodness stands out above all the others the way Jimmy running around the court moment does.

    You must mean Jim Valvano.
