The Jordan has a print spot and is off l/r.

Thats the problem with buying a set like this, if you are looking for the best cards the sliders would drive you nuts.

If you have 80k to spend why not build it yourself.

I agree. The centering isn't horrible but for that much money, it would have to be close to perfect for me.

Dealer friend of mine bought his set off another dealer back in 86/87. Paid $4.50. Probably not all 10's but still a great deal.

Heck even just getting a nice raw set without the Jordans is too rich for my blood :( And how come you couldn't "give them away" back then and how come Topps didn't do b-ball cards from 1983-91? I mean the 80s was right in the middle of the big Lakers/Celtics rivalry so it's not like people didn't like basketball in those days...

I saw a partial box of 1986 Fleer basketball wax at Woolworth in 1986 or 1987. I was huge into baseball cards at the time. I remember thinking, who would ever buy basketball cards. Baseball cards were all the rage, football a distant second, and basketball? Well, there hadn't been any cards for a "long" time, so no, they weren't popular.

Edit to add: I believe they were even 5 cents cheaper than the going rate for baseball cards, so it was slightly tempting, but again, basketball cards were just not in at the time, even though I was a huge fan of the Lakers / Celtics rivalry at the time.

I vividly remember my buddy going in the card shop to but the set for like 8-10 bucks, he picked up a basketball set every year. sadly I did not buy a set.

a couple years later I did pick up a nice 2nd year Jordan set for like 12.50 at a card show

Same here, I can’t tell you how many times I grabbed ‘87 Baseball and avoided the Basketball because baseball was a better “Investment “ 🤮

If we all didn’t pass back in the day they would have printed more and they would be worthless like most cards from the era.

  • stwainfanstwainfan Posts: 1,533 ✭✭✭✭✭

I think the print run was smaller. Than it was for baseball or football. Is that correct?

The centering isn't horrible ? I'd hate to see some of the blind dates you set people up with.

No the centering is not horrible and it appears the grader at PSA agrees.
