Someone on a facebook page made the comment that PSA will not grade/slab 1989 Fleer cello packs? Does anyone know if this is true? If true, does anyone know why?

I have a Griffey Jr, Randy Johnson, and one with the Ripken FF on the front that I was going to be submitting. Maybe not now, eh?

It’s true. They can’t special order a oddball sized holder? I think it’s pretty lame. I’d love to send in a pristine Bill Ripken FF pack I have.

Are they too big? I thought they were pretty much standard size cellos.

Too many cards I believe? Whatever the case they were being damaged during encapsulation is what I’ve read.

Do you know if they stopped grading other year Fleer? I see a few 87's that are slabbed. If you don't know, its ok. I'll just have to call them.

As far as I know it’s only 89’s

maybe like 7-8 years ago they slabbed a '89 Fleer Ripken FF cello & one with Cal Jr. on top for me (it was maybe the last group sub)

So, I did call PSA. They have no problem grading and slabbing 89 fleer cellos...but there is a problem. Most of the packs are too thick. This likely goes for 87's, 88's, and 90's? I guess they would have to be freak packs with less cards? I don't know. But I did compare an 85 fleer pack to my 89 fleer pack and the difference is quite significant. So basically, they do not have holders to handle that thick of a cello pack :(

This means they have a problem slabbing ‘89 Fleer. #Too cheap to custom order holders
