Can the Borders inside the PSA Holder make a small dent to the edge of the card?

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a concern the "border rails" (not sure what to call them) inside the PSA Card Holders might make a small imprint / dent where the card meets one of the pointed ends of the border rails?

I understand the corners are protected with the border rails. But I'm just worried somehow the card edge gets damaged by the tip of one of the border rails...

Yes, the rails can cause damage, especially on modern foil cards. Years ago, I tested this very same question. I tapped a slab repeatedly on my counter with increasing force. It took a few good taps and eventually there was a notch in the edge.

The card below is a PSA 10 that I picked up within the last couple months. It also has a damaged spot, right where the rail ends. It came like that in the mail so who knows what happened to it.

You're not the only one. The PSA case border rails TERRIFY me.

Back to the point of the topic.... With normal handling of the slabs, I believe there is nothing to worry about. Just handle with care and don't go using them as a hammer to build your home renovation project and you will be just fine.

My concern has always been during shipping. I know sometimes packages get dropkicked into the mail trucks and damage can occur inside the holder

I cryogenically freeze all my cards then pack them in dry ice for shipping. There is absolutely ZERO movement in the slabs during shipping or 7 days after arriving.

Yup. I believe that's when the damage occurred on the card I posted above. Probably somebody like this guy was handling it
