What is the biggest Rip Off you have ever seen an impulsive buyer make on ebay?

It could be a "Buy it now" for an outrageous price point or a regular way auction where a card sold for STUUUPID money above previous sales...anyone got anything juicy?? Doesn't have to be just ebay.....

Anything involving 1990 Fleer Uribe or 1989 Donruss Alex Madrid. A distant 3rd place vote goes to 1990 Hoops Mark Jackson
It has probably been five years or so ago and a board member posted a thread about a 1963 Topps rookie card and I made the mistake of clicking on it and then glanced at the card and somehow convinced myself it was a Pete Rose card that was mis priced and not a Ron Hunt. Well his thread was to laugh at the asking price of $150 and like an idiot I hit the BIN and paid. A minute later I realized that yeah it wasn't Pete Rose. I sent an email to the seller explaining my mistake and asking if they would refund the payment with no response. So I was the new proud owner of a $14 card that I had absolutely no interest in. I did have a little fun with the description when selling it so at least there was some entertainment value.
OP I think this is a tough idea for a thread because so many of the goofy sales that take place on EBAY never get paid for. Some at the time encouraged me to send it back but I didn't because I was the one that was to blame not the seller.
A NM Gary Carter RC just went for $350 with Greg Morris cards the other night.... Okay, it might be NM-MT a bit o/c but still...
Looks like $255, not $350? But still, too much.

Anyone who paid $20k for a Jeremy Lin RC card 7 years ago lmao
Yes this is the king of blunders. That guy could be sitting on 10mil right now.

I gotta say in 2010 a couple cards surrounding the Strasburg hype really stood out in my mind:
$16,000+ for a superfractor and $19,000+ for a red auto

If someone ever buys the PSA 7 1971 Dryden rc on Ebay by Bakersfield cards mislabelled O Pee Chee but it is a Topps card,I did mention this to the seller but it is still up.
While not technically eBay someone back during the buying group allegedly bought a Koufax rookie for $80k while everyone else was paying $20-23k. Same time people were paying $16k for a Rose rookie where they are now $4k in a PSA 8, or Clemente rookies which sell for $24-26k but a few “sold” for $140k and $150k. Imagine if those purchases 2 years ago were actually real. 😳
One of the articles mentions that the Strasburg card set a new record for a SuperFractor, topping the $7,330 paid for an autographed Fernando Martinez SuperFractor from 2007 Bowman Chrome in October 2007.
The Martinez purchase has to be up there too. I wonder what that card would get today.
I had the choice between dropping $150 on a Bogaerts Chrome Refractor Auto rookie or a Betts Chrome Refractor Auto rookie.
I chose Bogaerts.

Not to the scale of some of these but I paid $60 for a Heritage Babe Ruth Story card graded SGC 96. Was on eBay with about 60 seconds left and had no idea that Heritage remade them. It was clear in the description and on the flip but I hurried to get a bid in since nobody else had bid thinking it was a ‘62. Instantly realized my error and was glad that I hadn’t paid even more.
How about average price for 1981 Baines since December 2018, as compared with average up through November 2018?
