I really miss the time when the Santa Clara Coin Expo was run by CU and used to attract a lot of world coin dealers. Free parking and great location (at least for me!). I see this is a small show and hope it grows to attract the top world coin dealers. I don't know if this is worth the trip to the city to see just a couple of dealers and no grading companies.
This show the admissision fee is $8 ot $6 with coupon.
Seems kind of pricey for small amount of dealers but being in SF have to pay the bills etc.
Agreed the Santa Clara show when run by CU was alot better than what it is now.
I heard it was a good show with some nice foreign coins.

$6 or $8 admission should not be a deterrent from attending a coin show. Think of it as a movie ticket or a ticket to a Giants game. The difference is what is learned at a coin show at a location such as this. It is a bargain.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
I went to the show because there was one particular dealer there that had a few coins I wanted to see, Ron Guth. He told me he hadn't gotten many customers and probably wouldn't come back next year. I went when it opened on Saturday morning and collector traffic was pretty low. Most of the conversations and action seemed to be from dealer to dealer. The predominant groups were dealers that focused on ancient coins and world gold. Overall, it was a better show for me than your run of the mill local coin show I've been to. But realistically, I'll probably skip it next year too. It's a hassle to get into SF and parking is expensive. I'm arguably happier with my eBay, auctions, and mail order/internet dealers.
