Which Mick Would You Choose? UPDATED WITH MY PURCHASE

Guys,
I pulled the trigger.....Got a 56, PSA 5.....Focused on centering more than the grade, but I am happy with it..!! thank you for all the feedback and suggestions....Now onto the 53T one day

********I’m finally splurging on my 1st Mick. If you can have only 1, which would you choose and why? Assume relatively same cost, eye appeal, centering.

52 B - PSA 2/2.5
53 T - PSA 2/2.5
56 T - PSA 5
58 T - PSA 6
65 T - PSA 7
68 T - PSA 8 (best grade, but sure seems like this is like the Mick “common”! So plentiful.

Primary goal is to enjoy holding onto, but appreciation value is a small consideration.

As of now, leaning towards the 56 or 68.

Thanks for sharing your pick.

Steve

I would go with the ‘68 and the highest grade of the bunch.

I'd hit the 52 card. Epic notoriety trumps eye candy in rare cases. IMO this is one of them.

53T is a your best bet. It has doubled in value over the last few years and will continue to do so.

There are more than twice as many ‘53 Mantles in PSA 2 and higher than there are ‘68 Mantles in PSA 8 and higher.

Brad31, interesting point. I do think longer term the demand is likely more skewed towards the early Mantle’s, even in lower grade....but a PSA 8 Mantle is a PSA Mantle.....

53T or 56T...2 of my favorite cards.

52B because it crosses other parts of my collection - rookie HoF for example.

53T has always been my favorite looking Mick but in same grade I’d go 52B

56T would probably be 2nd choice

    1) 53 Topps: Topps will always topp (pun intended) Bowman cards as far as demand
    2) 56 Topps: Classic card of him in mid-grade would be a great addition
3 ) 52 Bowman: Great card but comes in #3 for me.

Centered copies of any Mantle are rare as compared to the total pop, so would depend on that factor for me. The demand is there for any of them, so the card is readily liquid down the line if you ever needed to sell.

All things being equal, I would go for the earlier cards if I had to choose of those presented— hence 52B, 53T, or 56T.

The 52 Bowman is a massive sleeper and it is such an early Mick, that one would be my pick if I had to choose one.

With Mantles, though, it starts with one— then you find yourself dedicating your whole collecting life to building your Mick run, LOL. Good thing is it is great fun!

‘53 Topps would be my choice. However if he had a ‘53 Bowman on that list I might go there

53 Topps. It's one of my favorite Mantle cards.

    This ^

I would find the best 53 or 56 centered with eye appeal that you can afford. Then plan on buying about 10-12 more :D

Aaron or Mays IMO Mick is overrated.
