No Card Country for Cardboard Men among them. Hope everything is ok.

I may be wrong but I think the only show that Card Country does is the National

The show was sparse, not worth the time. Bunch of vendors were not there and all in all it seems this show is winding down..

Held on a Sunday while NFL football is on TV. I didn't go but I thought about it.

YUP....Also it just seemed like a lot of people aren't interested in this type of show. People I spoke to both in attendance, and not, said they were holding out for the national. same location 6 months later.

Has this become more of an autograph event opposed to a sports card show? Personally, there's only a couple people I would stand in line to pay for an autograph and it seems like a lot of the same people every year. I wonder how much crossover there actually is....like how many people actually come just for the autos and don't buy any cards and vice versa.
Btw, the two people I WOULD stand in line and pay for would be Sandy Koufax and Bob Uecker. If anyone knows any Midwest appearances by either, I would LOVE to go!

there are a lot of autographs here, and I expect that they make their money on the appearances. That being said, BGS was supposed to be there authenticating so some people came for that and others came for the cards..all in all there's a reason its called the sports spectacular and not anything else...i gave it a 3/10...lame in my book..

was anyone else in attendance on this forum that could comment? would like to hear other thoughts from attendees.

I went on Sunday for some autograph signings. The major card dealers and AH weren't there. While it's possible I may have missed some as I didn't walk every square inch of the floor, I didn't see Mile High, Heritage, REA. I know Jeff (card country) and Brady weren't there. Neither was Evan. I did see Memory Lane but the display was small. 707 (Levi) was the only card dealer there I recognized. The rest seemed like very local dealers.

I had to submit some stuff to PSA and I've never seen a shorter line. 5 minute wait which was great.

FYI Heritage was setup up. The front row as you walked in the door, from left to right, was Memory Lane, Collect Auctions, Goodwin, Hunt and Heritage. Memory Lane had the setup they have had for years. They split the double front booth with AU Sports (who gets them a prime location at the National)

Mile High was there but Brian had to leave after Saturday. REA has never setup at the March/November Chicago shows so it should not be a surprise that they were not there. Jeff can speak for himself but I believe Card Country has not setup at a non-National Chicago show for atleast two years if not longer so it should not be a surprise not to see them either.

You're ruining Crisser's pot stirring with all those facts.

  • Other than the National, I don't think Card Country has been at this show, or the spring show, since March of 2016. So that would make it over 2 years.

I went Friday and it seemed attendance was sparse compared to past years. Certainly seemed that newer high-end basketball was everywhere at this show. Plenty of vintage as well but less than what I consider "normal". Prices were strong, saw a couple of cards that I wanted but didn't even offer as the stickers made me feel my fair offers would have been insulting. I did finish off my 55 Bowman football set picking up a Tom Landry and upgraded to a better Doak Walker copy.

    Appreciate today-

Cool. Must have missed it. I do recall Goodwin now that you mention it, but didn't see Hunt or Heritage. This was the only time I've attended this one, so my only comparison is the National (which isn't a fair comparison). Comparatively, much, much smaller but it was easier to walk around, talk to people, and submit at PSA. The autograph pavilion was a little more chaotic than Tristar's but still easy to move through the lines, etc.
