AC/DC Australian $5.00 coin display box error

I am looking to see if there is interest in this type of error?

The inner display box was mounted upside down by the mint.

My article was just in the most recent issue of Coin World Weekly

Well maybe to a collector that really wants that whole setup. Me, not so much. Peace Roy

  • Thanks, just looking to see if there is a market for this type of an error not sure if I should bring to a dealer, an auction or eBay etc.

Just looking for some advice since I do not have the experience with this type of an error.

I doubt it has any value. Regardless, might the cardboard insert simply be removed and replaced in a different orientation?

No I’ve already contacted the royal Australian mint and they said it was an error and do not try to remove it because it would be damaged.
I’m assuming it’s glued in, the original seller in Australia wanted it mailed back but I declined the offer.

  • The original seller stated that he has sold hundreds and hasn’t seen that before.

  • Probably will just sell on eBay and see what offers I could get.
