Action Photos

I have a couple of action photos taken during a game between the Cleveland Indians & Chicago Cubs. Does anyone have an idea what these photos might be worth? One photo shows Ernie Banks sliding to base as Chico Carresquel throws for a dbl play & George Strickland looks on. The other shows Al Smith being greeted at the plate after a home run. Photos taken by Charly Frankel.

Have no idea of value.

Do you know when this game was played?

From what I remember, Banks never played in a WS during his career. Also, his uni number was 14.

So, I'm guessing this is spring training?

What's on the back of the photo?

This could be a news service photo - but since not a game of significance? Even if a Type I photo? I wouldn't think it would be in big demand?

Thanks for you reply Mike! No official markings or indication as to year on the backs of the photos. But there is a doodle on the back of one that looks like someone was drawing the bases and the start of a strategy maybe? Or maybe they were just trying to show where the players were with respect to the plate Not sure

That looks like Hector Lopez sliding into second.....I don't think Banks ever wore #10

Another comment someone thought it might have been spring training so he was wearing a different jersey. I can only go by the typed note that accompanied the photos.

Based on who had #10 with the Cubs during that period?

I'm kind of doubting that it's the Cubs and some other team.

ironmanfan: I have attached a photo of the letter. I've done a little research and I think this may have been an all star game or spring training sometime between 1956-1958 because Chico Carresquel only played with the Indians from 1956-1958. Additionally, The Cubs did not have a #10 jersey in 1957 so, maybe it was assigned to Banks just for an All Star game or Spring training.

That does look like it could be George and Chico and based on the lack of fans? Again, if the Cubs - spring training?

But, what's Ernie doing with #10? IMO, there's no way to definitely tie Ernie to that picture because of the uni number - even tho there's the type letter of provenance.

All of what I said is not worth the price of admission tho.
