Were the best starting pitchers of all time (lefty and righty) both named Johnson ?

Johnson & Johnson. Hmmm. Sounds like a great American company (outside of just a few lawsuits).
If not these two, who was better ?

Lefty Grove was mighty good. Hard to compare across generations.
This is correct. I don’t like Pedro he’s the best pitcher of All Time & did it during the steroid era.
The only fair way to judge pitchers however is looking at the gap between them & #2 & 3 in each year. This gives an era neutral comparison & Pedro edges out Koufax here. The gap between him & the next best is the largest.
I don’t care for him, don’t know why I dislike him, I’m a Red Sox fan too, but he’s officially the best ever for a 5 year period & was good both before & after that period.
Officially according to whom?
I got to watch Pedro from the bleachers in Fenway during his prime back when you could get game day seats for $15 or less. The atmosphere at the park on game days was incredible- everyone knew they were witnessing a generational talent.
IMHO:
Righty = Greg Maddux (Postseason excluded)
Lefty = Randy Johnson

Maddux’s postseason ERA was virtually the same as for the regulay season.
I know, but I was referring more to his win loss record which I'm pretty sure was well below .500. Still the greatest in my book when you factor in that his peak dominance occurred in the Steroid era with everyone juicing and most pitchers getting shelled.

Greg Maddux over Walter Johnson my head just exploded!
