Just learned that numismatist James Laird has passed.

Mr. Laird had been a president of the Diablo Numismatic Society in the SF Bay Area. He apparently died in his sleep on May 2, 2018. He was a regular at Bay Area coin shows and to my understanding did some work for Heritage in evaluating coins and collections consigned for sale to Heritage. I last saw him at the recent Santa Clara show.

Condolences to his family.... RickO
So sorry to hear this. I saw him in Santa Clara and he was in good spirits and feisty.
How I want to remember him, we had fun teasing each other.
My condolences and prayers to his family.

That's very sad, he was always so cheerful at Santa Clara and kept the DNS Show running smooth.
Condolences to the family.

I'd have to say it has been about 26-27 years since I attended a DNS meeting, I used to edit the Diablo Die Break ca. late 1980s early 1990s until I moved overseas.
That's one nice way to go or while having whoopee some say.........but yeah, we'll all die sooner or later.
