More from 78 BBCE Box Rip......It had been quiet since pack 2 and then.....
Was down to the final pack.....Aside from Eddie (which under 10x, does looks to have a shot at 9), it had been mostly bad gum, sharp commons, but lacking superstars......Then, I found these 2..
The Mollie was the gum card, and came out with more bottom smudge than top, but still nice card....Centering is blah, 8 PD?.
Nolan is quite pretty......Centering is v good, but not 50/50, but overall may have better shot a 9 then Eddie.
Thanks for letting me share.....and thanks to our friends at BBCE for another great box and chance for me to relieve age 9!

That Nolan looks really nice to me. I could see that grading a 9 all day from the scan.
Hiya Steve
Reliving moments is one of the more enjoyable things I do in the hobby and since I don't sell - it all just stays with me.
I did a vending box in 1994 and did surprisingly well - in fact, I sent a few to a long gone 78T collecting - softparade - who got back a few 10s!
I think the Nolan looks pretty good.
Thanx for sharing.
Congrats on the nice pulls! For my money, that Ryan looks minimum 0.5 grade higher than your Eddie, if not a whole grade higher. Looks deserving of being granted the first PSA 9.5
So if these were mine, my paranoia on comparing one card to the next being used to assign a grade, I would suggest it is possible that Eddie has a better chance at being an 8.5 than an 8 if you split the subs and don't send it in along side by side next to the Ryan. Could be wrong on that, but it is the sub strategy I would use on mine.
Good luck!
That Ryan is gorgeous. From the scan alone, that looks to be at least a 9. It most certainly needs to be sent in. Good luck on the grades!
Matt
Update:
I paid up for fast grading.....Dissapponted the Nolan was only graded an 8. Had hoped for an 8.5 anyway. Will post scan when I get it.
You may want crack and submit the Ryan again. Thanks for sharing.
Nice job.
But why did you call the Trammell rookie a “Mollie”?
Centered a bit low T/B but I can see that card in a 9 holder. How is bottom right corner? Any softness there?

Mollie = Paul Molitor rookie.
10 all day!
He was being sarcastic. Yes, it is understood that Molitor is on the card, but some of us are/were big Trammell fans, so it is not uncommon to refer to the card as Tram's RC without acknowledging Mollie
I am not certain what part of this statement you disagree with OP.
Your card looks every bit as nice if not nicer than this 9 that sold recently.

It is certainly nicer than this 8 that went for $51.

Crack it out and send it in again. The marginal cost is no more than $20 and the potential payoff is a card that goes up ten fold. Unless you damage the card I think worst case scenario you get an 8 again and this is a good risk reward. If you are scared to crack it send it in for a review.
The one owned by the OP seems nicer than the only 8.5 I see presently on the 'bay (though this one is a BVG instead of a PSA):

Should have card back today. There is a dot right above the glove. It isn’t a pin mark but a dot. Is that enough to limit the grade to an 8?
If it's a surface defect, like a small bubble, then yes. Those are tough to see from a scan.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
It’s also tough to judge corner wear from photos. One touch on any of them could be responsible for the 8 and we likely wouldn’t be able to see it.
Got Nolan back. After reviewing other copies of this card, what I thought was a PD above the globe is actually part of the card. It seems worth a review, and/or an it is awfully high end PSA 8......
