And now for something completely different...(newp ancient inside)

Seriously, how do these things happen? I was perusing through a CNG auction for no apparent reason and somehow I bid on and won this one.
All I can think of is that I had drunk some wine and recently read a book with a couple of werewolves in it. Lycanonia does sound a bit like Lycanthropy I suppose. And, at under 10 mm diameter, it was a good bit of fun trying to photo it. The colors really are a bit different on the sides, the photo is pretty accurate.
So, other than the auction information, what kind of cool stuff do folks know about this? I'll hit the books later, though really perhaps I should have hit the books before the wine.

There are quite a few super small silver issues from this time period and this part of Asia Minor covered in Tevfik Göktürk's article which they cite in the description. Doesn't add too much in terms of information, but gives you an idea of the other issues from Laranda...

Cool coin, whatever it is. (I am so ignorant about ancients, but always enjoy seeing and learning about them.)
Congrats!

Buy the coin before the book!
I’ve done it before too. Gets me excited to study the book.
Cool coin.
