Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose

I got home from work all excited about the PWCC basketball auctions ending tonight. After spending over an hour and a half researching and setting up 77 snipes, I won a grand total of 8. I am going to take my 10.4% win rate and go to bed now.

    Hey Mike,

I won all low level 1986 Fleer PSA 10s, not even really worth posting. I am trying to complete the full set and stickers in PSA 10.

    Joe,

Sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your winning percentage, but the way I'd look at it is you are 8 cards closer than you were yesterday. In time you will get there. Take it from someone that's had thousands of those disappointing losses in my quest to complete my Nolan Ryan Master set with over 2,250 cards in the composition.

Don't let it ruin the fun part of this for you.

Congrats Joe. Get a little closer every week and soon you will be finished. Have you already obtained the Jordan or do you need to spend another TWENTY GRAND!!!!!

    STAY HEALTHY!

Now you're talking Joe! You're 8 cards "closer" to completion.

For those who play "holdem" - I think we should start a "bad beat" thread.

But, in our case, it'll be the ones that got away.

It's amazing how a snipe seems to "always" fail on an item one really, really wanted!

    Joe,

I've felt that way before too. It's streaky. The wins and losses can often be reversed too. Lucky for me there hasn't been 77 lots in one auction I'd want to bid on. With that kind of batting percentage over 77 at bats it might be time a "slump buster".

  • Thanks everyone for the kind words. Eventually, I will finish it up but this was the first time I dedicated so much time to "pregame" prep work. My expectation was to win at least 50%. Unlike other sets, the 1986 Fleer set does have a pretty good supply of PSA 10s hitting Ebay on a regular basis. The only tough card left for me between the base set and the stickers in the Johnny Moore. One ended last night but the centering was just too far outside my personal tolerance for the price. My 1951 Ringside boxing set stalled out for now because the last few cards I need are just not on the market. With that in mind, my collecting bug shifted to something I can actually work on and make some progress.

A PSA 10 Fleer set would be awesome, good luck!
