1944-S Merc Machine Doubling?

Is this mechanical doubling? The date particularly the "1" doesn't look shelf like.

    @DIMEMAN That is also what I thought and here it is designated as DDO. Plus it doesnt have the characteristics in the neckline as the DDO variety for the date. Crazy!

    After comparing this coin with mine, which is stage B with clashing in front of face....this is either MD or EDS without clashing. It could have come from a DDO die and then got the MD at striking. There are varieties like this. Hope this helps.

    Not sure what you are talking about on the neck line. Do you have a pic of that?
