Set weighing question

I am collecting a 1969 Topps set in PSA 7 condition (72% complete). If I buy a psa 6 checklist that carries a weight of 8, will I have to aquire 8 psa 8 cards that carry a weight of 1 in order to keep the 7.0 weight intact? I'm assuming I have to balance the 8 -1's to have the 7 weight.

    You are correct that you would have to have 8 PSA 8's weighted 1 to balance out 1 PSA 6 weighted 8. Usually, however, the price difference between between grades is so much less on the cards weighted 1 than the 1 weighted 8 that it is still less expensive to to upgrade the cards weighted 1.

    The SMR difference on the #99 checklist in your set is $125 between 6 and 7, vs $20 between 7 and 8 on commons, so this may not be the case in this situation. However, I have no idea what cards in your set actually go for compared to SMR.
