PSA again with new labels

I just got about 50 cards re-holdered last year with the hologram labels. Is it really worth reholdering AGAIN or are the new(old) labels good enough. PSA should really re-holder for free if you just had cards graded recently.

I really don't understand everyone reholdering their cards everytime PSA changes the slabs. I'm not sure if it's OCD or what, but unless you have some reason like a damaged case or you're questioning it's authenticity, you're just playing into this game that ultimately just benefits PSA.

I don't think it's OCD, but rather a desire to keep one's collection looking fresh. Also - and I may be alone on this thought - but a contemporary flip lends a bit more credibility to the overall grading quality, at least to some. That is to say, some folks allege that in the early days of the grading phenomenon, the science behind grading was much less developed than it is today. That being said, the sight of a pretty new flip might bolster its perceived reliability as a properly-graded card.

As for me, I just prefer uniformity, plain and simple. No clinical diagnoses required.

As much as I would love to spend the money to reholder from the older pre-hologram flip, its a waste of money. When buying graded cards, I'll pay more for a card of the same grade in the newer/newest holder vs the older ones. Something about eye appeal plays into it too.

If I were you, I wouldn't waste the money unless they are flipped from like 7 years ago. To go from the most recent to the newest flip would be a waste.

But I do notice that there is usually a couple dollars premium on newer slabs vs older ones on eBay.

I hesitate to have any cards reholdered that are high-end. Always a chance of some damage occurring during the process. I am sure most of the time there are no problems but why risk it. I guess if I was reselling I might go for it as I do think that the newer flips will bring a few more dollars.

let me ask you this... graders come and go and obviously its all about opinion... If you send a card in for "reholder" does PSA actually grade the card again and DOWNGRADE or UPGRADE the card?? Or does PSA Guarantee they will "reholder" with same serial number and same grade every time? Thanks! Id have some cards reholdered cause the case is slightly damaged but im a bit nervous to have my cards devalued if they disagree with previous long ago graders.

I understand it as if you reholder, there is no difference in the grade. Just the newer holder. If I am wrong, please let me know.

The hologram labels are new within a couple years and now more new holders they want to charge for, they should reholder anything hologramed for free within first year imo
