1970 Kelloggs Remedial Spelling

Has anyone ever noticed that on the front of card number nine, Jim Wynn's name is misspelled? I'm not talking about the wording inside the circle, I'm talking about his autograph. Tell Mr Koolaid not to use these cards as educational tools for youngsters.

Note that on the 1971 set, all players names are spelled correctly. Once again proving that the 1971 set rules above all.

  • You spelled Kellogg's incorrectly in your thread title and signature line. It's "Kellogg's" and not "Kelloggs". It figures that a '71 guy would muff it.

  • Now. now Gemmintman

We must be kind to the apostrophe challenged. Isn't there some EEOC category especially for the 71K folks?

  • << <i>apostrophe challenged >>

    LOL

The correct spelling is on the PSA Card Holders and the Kellogg's cereal boxes. There's no excuse.
  • Let us analyse this

1970 Kelloggs: Varieties.........well we have one, the innings pitched for Bob Gibson was left blank on a couple of printings.

Now let's look at the 1971"s

My God!!!! there's more varieties here than a can of Heinz57 beans!
Jim Fregosi has 3 alone! Osteen's card comes numbered and unnumbered! I could go on....over 26 errors in statistics and crests!

But wait, there's more!!!! All 75 cards come with a copyright date and without.

This set makes the 81 Fleer set look as though it had been carefully checked and proofread!!

  • Hey you spelled "Kellogg's" incorrectly too.

Has the whole world gone mad?
  • Perhaps I have become "apostrophe challenged" as a result of clicking on this thread, much in the same manner as one picks up a virus by clicking on an infected email.

Is there a help group for those afflicted with this problem?

    Perhaps a 12 step program?

    Hello, My name is Paul

.......and I can't use an apostrophe in the right context

    Or it could be worse!!!!

I could be a closet 71K Kollector and not know it!!!!!!!!!! Oh, the shame!

As a new collector of vintage 1970 Kellogg's, I've noticed that there are a few truths that are self-evident.

#1 When any member posts anything related to Kellogg's, the only responses from then on are a back and forth babble from "thefemmintman" and "zardoz51".

#2 When I think I found a "ggggrrrreeeeaaaatttt" buy on eBay, someone posts a link on the messsage board bringing the attention of the whole PSA community to the card I think I'm going to buy for a Keal (that's steal for anyone not currently Kollecting "K" (Kellogg's) cards). Apparently, you're supposed to select a random word in every sentence and replace the first letter with a "K".)

#3 Kollectors of "K" Kards are the friendliest, most helpful Kollectors on the planet! I just found out today that I should take all of my low pop Kards and submit them to PRO where I will get a guaranteed 10! I'm think I'm going to Kry when I start thinking about the new friendships I'm developing!

#4 When you think you're doing well buying PSA 9s off of eBay for less than $10 a pop... someone special comes along (don't worry, I won't mention your name... KingKellogg!) and offers you "A complete partial set of over 150 cards from the set of "K" Kards from the Special "K" period of 1970-1983 including all them years in between for the low-low sum of only $19.99 each if you buy at least one each for yourself and another for a surefire future trading pool guaranteed to get you a low-pop 1970 Bob Gibson card... if you act NOW!" Gosh, maybe I shouldn't have shared this with you's all... I may lose out on this deal!

#5 "K" Kards are better than, cheaper than, rarer than and overall a better investment than those poorly-made 1968 Topps 3-D cards (notice Topps made cards and Kellogg's made Kards!).

#6 And finally, after authoring this post, I am going to have to complete my vintage 1970 "K"set under an alias on eBay.

P.S. If you have any 1970 PSA 9 Kards for sale, please drop me a line: llafoe@msn.com.

    Happy Kollecting!

You forgot many of our Kellogg's Komrades and our arch nemesis, Vic.
  • Marvellous!

    Back and forth babble???????????

I thought that these were messages of a spiritually uplifting and wholesome nature

  • Zardoz. Comparing 1971 Kellogg's to 1981 Fleer must certainly be a felony. I demand a hearing, and on behalf of Dick Dietz (and other 1971 Kellogg's stars who didn't lower themselves to be in the 1970 set) I demand an apology.

In the name of Graig Nettles, and all that is holy, that is a low blow.

  • Getting back to the subject at hand. No doubt that Jim Wynn was kicked out of Kelloggsville for failing to spell his name correctly on his autorgraph. Everyone in the 1971 set was able to spell his name.

You are right that 1968 xograph test set (known as topps) are junk.
If you have any you should contact me immediatly and sell them while you still can get 5 cents on the dollar.
I am pretty sure you probably don't........ based on your proclomation that topps made them and that they were poorly made compared to that garbage they sold kelogg for his 1970 cereal boxes.

    Brutaul???????? nah.
No Offense intended (as always....half of my posts are half hearted)
Just sticking up for an awesome set I love and hope to complete one day, because we all know which xograph 3-d set rules the roost, and there are no K's involved.
