72 cards... 36 with wax, 36 with gum. I would keep it unopened.

i guess they dont grow on trees...but yes...the cards are probably all ruined. these boxes were found by the case (50 box cases) in the 1980's sitting in a hot mexican warehouse. only chance at nice cards are the inner 3 cards of the 4 pack version (no gum in these but the back card has a wax stain).

The hot Mexican warehouse thing is quite the bummer. Opening this would be reverse artificial economic inflation 775 bucks down to 5 bucks in a matter of seconds.

the original dealer went to mexico to find mexican non sports cards like star wars and charlies angels and when he came across the football, he called a friend/dealer that was into football and they bought all the items from the warehouse.
back in 1998 these mexican boxes were $100 each

Wow, that is over $10 a card, Never, ever open it and someday you may get your money back. I can think of a lot of other things I would rather have for $775 but if you are happy all is good.

Considering the only other 1977 Topps Mexican Football boxes currently on the market are priced at $1,500 and $2,500, I think it was a GREAT buy. Unopened is about rarity of the unopened product, not the possibilities within. The rarity warrants the premium >>>> is there a single card or cards driving the price for unopened 1971 Topps Basketball packs or boxes?

I saw that posted as well, but if you like something there you should at least scan ebay or elsewhere to gauge if its a good price first. You paid about 80 above current market(although buying from BBCE adds value). For the upside, 2 months ago you had a deal by $200 so its a crapshoot what will be the consistent value. Bust it and get a PSA 10 Brady and you double but its a huge risk. Still a good box to save IMO so overall a decent safe buy from BBCE.

This auction will tell the story on if the Topps Mexican immigrant 1977 Football box was a good or bad buy. It's a PWCC thing though, so whatever the outcome, I better not expect as much. If it doesn't reach 800, I vow to rip the box here.

Well, with the closing price of $800 and with Steve selling them at $775, it is confirmed that Steve is a price gouger.
