My question: If you had to put 10K into some coins at current levels and hold them for 10 years before selling, what would you buy? That's my way of asking which coins you really believe in, as opposed to the coins that you buy and sell on a daily basis, just because you can do it profitably.
If I were to invest 10K for a long term investment in coins I would seek genuinely rare, and desirable coins. Older type coins, early copper, personal preference would definitely play a role and I would look to buy high grade and very attractive franklin & walking liberty halves, as well as better date Washington's in high grades.

what are you doing to "give back" to the Hobby, or is it just a source of income for you??
Every dealer "gives back" by getting nice coins graded, offering coins for people to buy to expand their collection, etc. You make it sound like being a dealer and making a profit is a bad thing.
I've met a lot of people who find it absurd that coin dealers should profit. Apparently to some dealers should just act as public servants to coin collectors investing their lives and thousands of dollars to generate no profit lol.
It is honorable in any profession to not only earn a nice income but add something positive to the community in which you thrive. Education is one thing that numismatists can share. Most any kid is fascinated to see a hundred and fifty year old coin in decent condition. That sort of transcends Iphones and video games. Coins are magic and bringing fresh interest into the hobby is of benefit to us all.
@OwenSeymour is the best coin dealer on the internet in terms of trust, shipping, prices and quality of coins. He is the only person who I would send a large sum of money to over the internet and not worry about it.
Alright guys you swayed me to do something I never thought I would.....join Instagram. I don't think I will post any photos or anything but if it can help me find coins or give me some to look at might as well, who knows I might even delete it shortly after (someone told me there were a lot of coin groups on Facebook but the ones I found wouldn't accept my invitation). So @OwenSeymour and @boyernumismatics what do I have to do to follow you?

Got a feeling about this thread ... Is this a banned poster from before, that has joined up again ?
12 Ebay sales in last 6 months ...all except a couple , under 50 bucks ..most of ebay OP feedback was from buying ,

I suppose I understand the concern, but I have plenty of references including several prestigious coin dealers/ pcgs graders. Steve Feltner owner of Americana Rare Coin and PCGS grader has mentored me for around 2 years now, as well and John, Amber, Ed & Ed Jr Hipps. I have never been on these threads under another account and of course have never been banned from any pcgs forum on any acount.
I can provide dozens or perhaps hundreds of customer recommendations if you would like.

Owen is probably the most trustworthy guy I know on Instagram. I have sent him coins to be graded by PCGS (without previously dealing with him) and the transaction was handled quickly and professionally. I've also bought toned dimes from him for my toned Roosevelt set that I've been building.
I can see why you may be hesitant, but Owen is definitely the real deal.

Search "pa_coins Instagram" on Google. That should give you a feel for my business. You should also check out all the positive feedback right above your comment from fellow respected forum members.

Owen is a great guy; he has helped me through many deals and has extended my knowledge of numismatics exponentially throughout my time knowing him. He is a stellar dealer, and the idea of questioning his authenticity makes me cringe on the inside. I tried to be civil via PM and Owen feels the need to insult and name call in private, I chalk that up to immaturity. I asked a simple question that he apparently took offense to and has now continued to rant about for the better part of a page within the thread. so sorry if I touched a nerve.
I told you I wouldn't derail your thread by arguing within it, and I won't. if you need to feel I'm a coward and you have won some hollow victory, so be it.
again, I simply asked a question and you answered it. move on from it.
I'm a bit late to the game, but did want to give my two cents that Owen Seymour is an exceedingly trustworthy individual who I have dealt with on many occasions. I have nothing but positive things to say about him and his business practices, and I look forward to doing business with him in the future.
There is a saying, "Live life such that no one would believe it if someone spoke badly of you behind your back." Owen Seymour is a prime example of this and the business deals we have completed in the past speak much more loudly than any negative forum comment ever could.
I am new to the PCGS forums so I have not yet established a reputation, so feel free to verify legitimacy on ebay at Coins-Currency-And-Curiosities or an instagram @CCCNumismatics

I understand! Most of the customers who make it onto my email lists are people I've met on Instagram or at shows and I know them/their age from there.
I was a bit skeptical about Instagram at first but I joined a few days ago and I really enjoy it! There are a lot of nice coin pages to follow, a variety of nice coins for sale, and a bunch of younger enthusiasts. I am using my account strictly to look at and post some of my own coins and find it fun interacting with them, it isn't that much different than the forums.
I also noticed Owen has over 6,000 followers (most I have seen for a coin-oriented account) so I have no doubt trusting him.
It is also good to see some names on Instagram I recognize! Quite a few forum members.

Iowacoinguy, I think you are already following me. Someone should start a thread to post all our Instagram usernames, I might do that later.
Welcome again @OwenSeymour
I've been quiet here but I admire your enthusiasm.................and your ability to answer questions here in a timely manner.
I'm sure you will be a great dealer.
The ANA needs to start promoting the hobby the way that @OwenSeymour is! Social media is the cheapest and most effective way for young kids to get interested. The ANA should be creating a facebook group or start posting digital flyers for an ANA show, summer seminar on Instagram or Facebook. Have a weekly thread on Reddit talking about a historical coin, numismatic fact or a cheap giveaway. Even APMEX does it...
Social media is "free" (as long as you don't mind the hosting company collecting your data) and you can reach more people with a single tweet, instagram picture, facebook post or reddit thread than a newspaper or billboard. Why do you think these social media companies have valuations in the BILLIONS of dollars while the NYT and every other newspaper is failing? Do you think wall street is stupid?
Collectors keep on wondering how to get younger people into coins and this is the way to do it: Instagram, Facebook, Reddit and Twitter. I find it ironic that @OwenSeymour is met with naysayers and hostility when he shares his experience and then people complain that kids don't want to walk into a coin show or local coin shop. Why bother getting the stink eye or rude attitude when you can find cheaper, nicer and a wider variety of coins online and not get hassled while doing it?
If Owen was smart (and it seems like he very much is), he should pitch an idea to the ANA or other numismatic businesses to post paid promotions to his 6,000 followers. According to him, he has the largest captive, targeted numismatic audience on Instagram with a traceable way to see how many views a post gets. He could plug the ANA, PCGS, large coin shows, numismatic publications or online dealers and charge a flat fee for a post or by the number of views a post gets.
