Yeah, those are a neat denomination. I used to have a holed one on the Holey Coin Vest. Not a lot of silver left after somebody put a hole in one of those!
I would imagine (slipping into my England metal detecting imagination as I am often prone to do) that many of those got lost, hit the dirt, and are waiting to be found by someone with an electronic magic wand. But they can't have circulated very much. In fact, I forget- were these an issue for the overseas colonies?
Speaking of tiny silver, the Charles I penny I dug over there in Essex is probably smaller than this piece.
