Has anyone seen a card holdered like this?

Just received my most recent order and was shocked to see about 25% of it was holdered like this. As you can see, the card is above the plastic bumpers that hold the card in place. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue before. I have contacted PSA about it and am waiting for a response. Thanks.

Ouch, that doesn't look good. I wonder how that has affected the surfaces of those cards. I would say the package may have taken a tumble in shipping or they were improperly sealed. Either way I would be very unhappy

Yes, I am not pleased at all. It was an order of 40 cards, but only 10 of them were holdered like this. I am assuming it was done at PSA as the package wasn't damaged and was securely packed. The order was in three separted boxes inside the larger USPS box and the cards came out of all three boxes.

I was surprised this popped so soon as it was the September monthly special that was logged 9/21 and popped 10/4

Can't imagine that there isn't some type of damaged to those cards!! Would like to know what PSA has to say about this, that is some bad QA/QC prior to shipping!,!

PSA should and will make it right I'm sure, but absolutely -- that's unacceptable quality control. Perhaps the seam at top wasn't sealed properly, and the cards found themselves like that after the shipping trip. Can you imagine your feeling about any card of yours coming back this way, let alone one that was highgrade and condition-sensitive?

I would PM both customer service and Joe Orlando to ensure this comes to their attention. Someone in quality control needs to get on the stick.

This has happened to me not once, but twice. Most recently on a few cards with similar cert #s to those that you show. Have contacted them about returning/reholdering the most recent examples but nothing yet. Hope for both of us that they are undamaged as a result of this.

Are the cards sealed on their surface this way, or are the cards very thin and slide up into the top of the holder?

I've had a couple of '64 Kahn's Football cards, that are pretty thin, slide up into the gasket area during shipments
from ebay sellers. Luckily the cards surfaces/corners were not damaged.

I'm thinking this is what happened with your order. I don't think PSA purposefully sealed the cards on the surface but
their thinness caused this to happen while in transit to you.

    I hope it works out.

You might be able to fix them yourself by tapping in the other direction and getting the cards to unwedge themselves.
I would scan them first as they are for documentation, in case the cards get damaged while trying this out.

Give them a call and go berserker until they make things right!

That is gawd awful. That was done during the slabbing process and not during shipping. How did they not catch that. There's no way that is during shipping with the seals being that tight.
I assume the cards are now damaged and crimped. Send them back. I'm sure they will make it right and compensate at least.

Well I emailed Joe Orlando this morning with front and back scans of all 11 cards. He told me someone from customer service would be contacting me today. Well that didn't happen, so I guess I will be calling Monday.
  • I had all my Topps and panini football stickers 6-8 total from my last sub look like that, I thought they moved in transit. I just tapped them back into place.
