I, too only collect small size notes and thought they were overpriced. But I hadn't seen that doll bond before and imagine that many large size collectors might not know whether it is overpriced or a great find.
It's a good and harmless question from the op, what we are here for. Some of the best meetings and classes are beginner's meetings where we get back to basics. By the way I looked at the Greensheet on those 1923 silver notes and doesn't look like they go very high even in MS65.

There was no need for the harsh wording of the comment by Borchgrave which understandably ruffled a lot of feathers but added nothing to the conversation. And before I hit the reply key I do try and remember that even those of us who think we are omniscient actually don't know everything! (and have deleted a lot of draft posts as a result)

It just seemed to me that someone with as many posts as the original poster who has been on these boards as long as he has should have been able to make such determination on his own. I regret that some of you found my reply not polite enough, but I tell it like it is. As for "Mike", what an overreaction on your part, with your "censored" response.
To "tell it like it is" would be to simply say "they are overpriced", not personally attacking someone for asking a question. The difference is vast.

Secondly, just because someone has posted hundreds if not thousands of times to this board does not make them an expert in everything discussed here. I have over 1400 posts now, but my knowledge on value of large size or FRN's is limited. I don't collect those. So yes, it's interesting to read about them and see them, but I couldn't tell you the value difference between a A-C block versus an C-D block.
Likewise, my many posts on depression scrip doesn't make everyone else an expert on that subject. Unlike you, when I don't know something, I have friends on this board I can ask and they will be glad to help. That, after all is the purpose of this board. If you don't feel like participating in a civil manner, you're welcome to go elsewhere.

It seems self awareness/sense of irony not strong with this one, combining the tired old teenager "get over yourselves" meme with the equally outdated "I tell it like it is" phrase. Of course there could have been a specialist variety in the OP. Like depressionscrip I also specialize so wouldn't have immediately picked up on it either so the question was quite legit.
Do you actually collect something? With just a couple of dozen posts and no background it's impossible to tell. You may have burned too many bridges at this point but how about some sort of introductory post with a few scans to illustrate your interests. Would certainly have been a better start for a newby board participant than trolling legit questions of other members.

How about you just go crawl back into your hole? What an asinine way to come into a forum by attacking other members. Sounds like you do have social issues.
@Borchgrave- in answer to your implied question of why one would post a note that seemed overpriced and ask its value:
(1) We like to look. All of us like to look at currency - otherwise we would not frequent this board. We would rather see a note than a blank page.
(2) Almost all of us like the hunt for interesting, unusual or valuable notes. As others have noted even the most common note could have a serial number or block that makes it quite desirable.
Now an antique dealer would seem to be a good place to look for hidden treasures- on the whole they
would be unlikely to appreciate any of the finer points about a note. (But even Heritage has sold without comment an unique unrecognized mule on occasion.)
The people on this board though in the aggregate certainly would know if a seemingly common rag had unrecognized value or an interesting backstory.
I don't believe that any one person though would have the cumulative knowledge of the entire group - so we post notes to get the benefit of the group.
(3) You likely have some expertise else you wouldn't be on a currency forum. Sadly too many people who had lots to contribute have been banned from the board and we are the poorer for it.
Feel free to tell it like it is - you can say a lot of things in this forum (people even criticize PCGS grading on a PCGS board and get away with it) but
don't make personal attacks on people - even implied ones - they serve no purpose and nobody likes to be criticized - even you and me
You don't ask for suggestions but I'm going to give you one anyway. Get a new username and a fresh start. Post notes, ask questions, share your expertise, dispute grading and even denigrate notes - but not other members.
Borchgrave, it's been a while since someone with as few posts that you have that has become a butthead faster than you.
