Been around a while. I believe it was once priced close to 50K.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

    Isn't it the Rosen case?

You are right Tim. When they first got that empty case they were asking FIFTY GRAND!

I think they've had it listed for at least 10 years...at least it seems like it's been for sale for that long.

Everything has a value to someone, but this is just stretching the bounds of reason. Sure, it is somewhat related to card collecting, but the box holding the boxes holding the actual cards? Nah, I can't ever see a time when I would have an interest in something like that (other than the possibility to profit from it with a flip).

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

    +1

I remember seeing this box on DA a few years ago for 50,000. I'm curious to know how much DA lost (or is going to lose) on this box.

I think it's just too plain to be collected. I think it would sell easily if it were as attractive as a typical wax box.

BTW, I have a wood pallet that the cases were stacked on. image

There are collectors for these empty cases. Check out this collection, and I must admit, it looks AWESOME!

Tom ... some of those are pretty interesting. This is just a bit boring for $11,000.00. Maybe if it had the year in big numbers on the box it would look a lot better.

I agree with Doug. The non-sports cases you showed us in your picture are for more interesting from a design standpoint than the 52 Topps BB case. Chances are an empty box would fetch more than an empty case as it would at least contain better color, graphics and/or artwork than the cardboard case.

Lol, I agree, $11k for the box is crazy and not very attractive looking. Was just pointing out that there are collectors for this stuff.

If I still lived in my parent's basement that's exactly how I'd want it to look.

In all seriousness though, it is pretty cool.

They should just make reprints of the boxes...on a crate would be cool even

If someone had put together a master set, which would include the red and black backs, all the gray backs ( which sell for more than the high numbers these days), both versions of the Mantle, Thompson and Robinson, the Sain, Paige and the three versions of the Campos, the various House yellow Tiger versions, and all the recurring print defect variants identified in the Huggins and Scott auction in 2013...and a few since then, it might be a unique addition for such a collector....at the right price.

Maybe the seller should try to get it stabbed image

Al, didn't you just describe your 1952 collection? image

They'll have to wait around to find someone sitting on 24 boxes of 1952 Topps packs who wants to rebuild the case (a frankencase)!

The non-sport empty cases have good looking graphics.

I just don't have the same appreciation for BB I guess?

I wouldn't be surprised given today's talent/technology in graphic arts that it could be replicated while using an old cardboard box.

The empty case may appeal to an advanced 52 collector, but for me, I would never pull the trigger on it

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

HAHA that is exactly what i thought when i read that...but i am pretty sure al is still missing a handful of grays. Not sure anyone has a complete gray series.

I think they are cool collectibles even the non-sport ones. Drawback to me is that they are so large and take up a lot of display space. If I had Bill Gates home and money, well, different story!

Yep, I lol'd at that. Well done. They'd then be able to mark them FAFC.

I have twenty boxes from my grandpa. I've been using them to keep the tp and paper towels off the floor in the basement in case we get a flood. Are you saying I should move them to a higher shelf?

I read that this empty case is valued at 10 to 20k.
