1993 sp jeter prices

I have a question why are jeter sp rookies going for more then 400.00 in psa 8 now when three months ago they were only going for about 150.00 what has driven the market to this increase in prices. his beckett cards are not even close in value. what does psa grade differently then what beckett does. sorry for my rant.

Comments

  • MANY of the Jeters won't be graded by PSA due to a very slight min size requirement issue. A lot of those Jeters were cut about 1/32 an inch short top to bottom.

Beckett is fine with the min size as it was a factory cut and not intentionally trimmed. Many people of course won't do the Beckett Jeters as there is a good chance if wanting to cross over to PSA, the card would come back ungraded. Even if that wasn't the case would still bet the PSA Jeters would be more, but not like the huge variance it is now.

just crazy how much difference the prices are now. just wonder what jeter sp rookies will be when he is due for the hall of fame.
  • Just placed my order for pack # 5 and 6 of 93 SP from BBCE ... hopefully better luck with these two. Did get a Ramirez and Damon though out of the first 4.... doesn't make up for the $44 per pack shipped though.

How much is a single pack selling for at bbce? Are they raw or graded?

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • Non-graded packs. I've been buying two at a time for $87.50/shipped total.

I wonder if going after a johnny damon rookie in psa 9 would be worth it. damon might have a shot at the hall some day.
  • They seem pretty decent to me...

Those look nice. I think the surface and the lower left corner is where most get dinged.

we did a group rip a while back with a 93 SP box. And guess who got the Jeter? Yup me. Talk about gorgeous. I assumed a 9 EASY--so did Steve at BBCE who I showed the card to at the Natty. Guess the grade???? Go on guess??????

If you're saying it like that it must be a PSA 7

    Min size?
  • Since the bottom left corner is so easily dinged, if a Jeter were to be pulled do you think it would be wiser to put it into a soft sleeve upside down and then into the card saver?

I usually clip the top corner on the penny sleeve and they slide in very easily

That's a lot of question marks so I'm sensing some hostility. My guess is 7...?

The quality of BGS SP Jeter rookies pales in comparison to PSA copies. I've gone through a half dozen BGS 9s and about 15 BGS 8.5s and only one of the 9s had a chance at a PSA 8. I'm not breaking any new ground here but PSA is a bear on these cards--which I'm thankful for.

I received a BGS 8.5 this weekend that I would be pleasantly surprised if it crossed to a PSA 7. BGS was that lenient.

I have one BGS 8.5 in an old label(the one I don't plan on moving) that I have considered crossing simply because it's the best looking one I've owned, raw, BGS, or PSA. if came back a straight 8 it'd be an upgrade value wise. We'll see. I'll scan them both later today.

  • I was the one that sold the card for $4499 yesterday. I listed (2) PSA 9s on saturday and had 9 offers within 24hrs. I accepted an offer for $4000 for the one card and within 30 minutes of accepting that I receive notice from ebay that the other had sold for full price. Both buyers have already paid and I am shipping the cards out today.

Price rise maybe because he got married over the weekend in Napa valley, this according to SI.

I recently found one of the earliest SMR magazines I ever got and it is from Sept 2010. It is an entirely different hobby!

One of the cards coming in the Heritage auction is the Ruth in a PSA 7 and the estimate was like 600k plus. Sold for 72k and was bragged about in this copy.

The SMR on the Jeter was $330 in a 9 and $4,750 in a 10.

People who think that cards like this are going back to where they were trading several years ago are really just dreaming. A lot of us would love a do over!

Makes no sense. 8's are gonna be 500 by the end of the week. There's 7800 8's alone...so it's not like they're tough to find.
  • I don't understand why PSA wouldn't grade a SP Jeter that may be slightly smaller, when it is a known factory cut issue. It is not doctored.

They do it with a lot of SI for Kids cards from the bottom row of the pages as well. I've heard they're reconsidering their stance on those at least.
