Early Anglo-Saxon period. AR Sceat. Circa 695-740. 1.01 gm. 10 mm. Continental issue, Frisia. Series D. Circa 700-750. Degraded bust right / Cross, pellets in angles. S. 792 variant. N. 168. BMC Type 2c (p. 4: 28). Choice Extremely Fine; lightly toned. Superb example.

Thanks. Ordinarily, this coin would be listed retail for $500 and higher. I paid *much* less.

Bought this today as a complement to the thread subject coin:

SERIES D Ty. 2c (3f). AR Sceat, ca.700-15AD, ca.11mm, ca.1.0g. Degraded bust l./ Cross with pellets in angles, pseudo-letters around. S792 var., Mp 184>, Abramson cf. 8-30. RARE+.

Graded GVF to NEF with dark (hope not too dark, since this dealer tends to over-expose the coins in his images) grey toning and silvery high points.

(According to the Spink book, the bust left variant of S792 may be an Anglo-Saxon imitation of this Frisian/Continental issue. Note that the thread subject coin has the bust right, though readers may be forgiven for not knowing that it's even a bust.)
