1708 Queen Anne Shilling

I bid on only one coin in the Heritage auctions around and shortly after NYINC and FUN. It was actually from the Dallas auction on 13 Jan. I won this coin for slightly below my max bid. I was very pleased when I got her in hand yesterday.

Here are the Heritage images:

And here are my images, as I received it in the mail yesterday. Lots of luster, and plenty of pretty colors to appeal to my eye.

Very pretty. Congrats. I find the adjustment marks not at all distracting.

Sometimes I do too. It really depends on the coin and the nature of the adjustments on that specific coin. I think of it as adding character, but if too much character then I don't want it overshadowing the rest of the coin. Just my personal preference on this single aspect of what makes a coin a coin.

Nice coin. I've always liked Queen Anne coins. Do you think that coin would straight grade at NGC?

Yes, I think it would straight grade. Not sure why it matters, as I don't play the crack out or cross over game. I find that silliness to be a huge waste of money.

Very nice brg, I generally don't even think about adjustment marks on early 18th C. and earlier pieces, I think it looks fine. Don, I have a number of NGC graded coins with adjustment marks, some much more than this one.

Wonderful color! I really like the blue and purple highlights on the gown and where the crowns meet the legends. Very nice!
