Zohar sent me another batch of mostly Thalers for photographs. As always, a group of wonderful, big world silver, eye candy coins.

Enjoy the show! They are posted from oldest to newest. image

I love you the luster on the Brunswick Wolfenbuttel Thaler!!!!

Great stuff. I particularly like the 1706 and 1713 thalers. I'll bet the CAM proof 1870 2F has pretty impressive mirrors in hand.

PS- excellent photos, too, of course. image

All great, but the 1713 is my favorite!

Brandon's imaging gets the coin to pop out of the slab. I am really appreciative.

My favorites are the 1654, 1706 and 1713. The 1742 city view has a mintage of 800. The Olmutz larger flan pieces seem to always come with what I call "pitting" in the field, yet Brandon corrected me in indicating that its a metal quality/purity issue. I have yet to see a piece with pristine fields.

They are all really great coins in hand, but that 1654 1/4 Thaler is my favorite. It's simply hammered, and is a joy to behold.

The 1706 and 1713 are not far behind in jaw-dropping quality. The 1713 almost glows in hand. The 1733 has some really amazing deep color on the reverse also, and if you look closely similar colors hiding in the recesses of the obverse hair.

Zohar definitely has an eye for quality. image

Wow! Amazing coins! The 1706 and 1713 are particularly eye catching.

That 1654 1/4T Hall is amazing. The hairline detail is unreal how it pops out. This may be the only field I have never dipped a toe in for budgetary reasons. But Zohar inspired me to request a copy of the World Taler book which I dutifully received from my Mom two Christmases ago. A man a look, and dream. image

Thanks! PCGS has the advantage of imaging coins when not behind plastic. That makes the job a LOT easier.

Photographing coins with toning like this while still behind plastic is indeed quite difficult. In the 5 years or so I have been doing coin photography, you learn how to get around the "plastic barrier"...
